Anna was fascinated by this place, and with the absence of any lessons to attend or any obvious way to get home, she had alternated between joining in the cleaning effort and exploring. It was like being an adventurer sometimes, with how wild parts of the school had turned out to be, and she didn't even have to pretend she was off somewhere new and exciting because everything was. She spent more time outside the castle these days, but still not as much as she would like, she had a lot of time to make up for all the years she'd spent shut up inside the palace, trying to get Elsa's attention.
Of course she missed her sister, and Kristoff, and Olaf and Sven and all the people of the kingdom, but since there wasn't a lot she could do about it right now, she put that worry aside and focused instead on getting to know this place. Who knew, she might even find another one of those portals and find her way home, she certainly wouldn't do that if she was just sitting back and worrying about it.
She'd come to explore the old Caerlaverock building today, it apparently used to be the art building, and she wondered if there were any interesting artworks inside. She was standing outside the door trying to work out if she could get inside when she heard a noise behind her and spun round, skirts whirling around her legs.
Elsa and Kristoff had been searching for Anna for some time now. They'd heard in passing from people who said the girl was around; Anna was not exactly easy to miss after all. But so far to Elsa's knowledge, neither her nor Kristoff had actually managed to locate her sister. So they'd agreed to split up, quietly see if Anna was about somewhere and find her.
When Elsa had heard there was an art building, she decided it wouldn't hurt to try looking there. Kristoff had agreed but, again, they were separating to check out different areas. So Elsa headed to the art building on her own.
"Oh, just the Queen of Arendelle, Bringer of Winter, Maker of Monsters, Elsa," she said offhand, mostly spinning false titles for herself (Elsa of course had real ones, but they were much less fun and less likely to make Anna blurt out protests). The blonde was still wearing a dress, albeit one a little more in fashion with their locale. Her platinum blonde hair had been twisted in a long braid, dropped over one of her shoulders. Now she actually had a wide smile on her face as she finally, finally walked toward her sister again. Joy first; anger at running into mysterious portals later.

"Elsa!" Anna cried delightedly, overjoyed to see her sister. She ran forward to throw her arms around the other girl in a hug before Elsa had the chance to react, she liked to get in as many hugs as possible ever since the incident with the ice palace, she wanted Elsa to know she was loved and accepted for who she was.
"I'm so glad you're here, how did you get here? Did the portal pull you in too? Who's looking after the castle while you're here? Is it Kristoff, did you leave Kristoff in charge? You really shouldn't have done that, I mean he's great but... well... he'll let Sven on all the furniture you know he will." she stopped to take a breath, stepping back from her sister "It's so good to see you." she added sincerely.
She wanted to keep talking, but she'd asked enough questions she should actually force herself to stop and let Elsa answer some of them, and it was possible that Elsa had questions of her own, it would only be fair to let her take a turn at speaking. She wondered if Olaf had followed the queen here and glanced around for a sign of his little flurry, but he didn't seem to be around. It was possible he had come but that he'd wandered off somewhere, he did that fairly often after all.
{and now I know what it's like talking to Lorelei}
Elsa grunted as her sister wrapped her in a hug. The grip was tight, warm, and pretty much precisely what Elsa had come to expect from her sister by now. The barrage of questions wasn't unexpected either, and Elsa found herself chuckling again.
"It's good to see you too," she said, making sure to address the most important part first. She raised a hand, moving to brush aside some of Anna's hair. Her eyes swept her sister, taking in Anna's condition. Again: that was far more important than any of her questions or any of the details. Elsa didn't see anything, but: "are you doing alright? You're not hiding anything, are you? This is a strange place, but it does seem to be safe."
Elsa looked around again, pursing her lips. "And Kristoff came through with me. We followed you," she looked to Anna, half-smiling and raising a brow.

Anna gave her sister a warm smile as she indulged her questions, though countering them with one of her own.
"I'm fine, I promise, no harm done," she told her seriously "I think you're right, it doesn't seem to be dangerous here." she hadn't met a lot of people yet, but those she had met had seemed very nice. Still, she was glad to see Elsa here, and to hear that Kristoff had come with her.
"Kristoff came as well?" she smiled, cheeks colouring slightly at the idea that he'd rushed off into the portal to come after her, it was sort of romantic "Wait, you and Kristoff came together? ...How was that?" they didn't exactly interact a lot without Anna around, she wasn't even sure how they felt about each other, and after the Hans debacle Anna felt very strongly about making sure her sister approved of the man in her life. She recognised the question in the raised eyebrow and shrugged "I didn't mean to go through, I just wanted to look at it, but... it sort of pulled me in."
Elsa nodded as Anna agreed with her. This place was many things: magical, fantastic, advanced, but it wasn't overly dangerous to the residents. There might have been some people here that wanted to harm people, but they'd encountered that back home. They'd also encountered people that were much better, like the source of Anna's flushing.
"Yes, when we received word, we both set out to go and find you. Are you really that surprised? You and he went looking for me," she cupped her sister's face, "did you really think I wouldn't look for you?"
Elsa ran a thumb over her sister's cheek, again glad to see her. Not only that, but glad that she could hold her sister, touch her like this, without worrying about icing Anna over yet again. She lowered her hands all the same. "Are you thinking of staying or are you ready to go home?" she asked, quirking a brow. She was a little half and half herself, but it would be interesting to see what Anna thought, interesting indeed. Part of Elsa was tempted to just outright suggest that Anna stay; it would be quite beneficial to her, really.

"I guess," Anna smiled fondly, reaching up to press her hand against Elsa's where it rested on her cheek, leaning into the touch just a little. She loved to encourage Elsa touching anybody else, she'd been so worried about even being in the same room as anyone growing up, it was much better for her powers if she wasn't afraid of any kind of interaction, at least that's how Anna saw it. Not to mention she was an affectionate person, and she liked to get a little of that affection in return.
"I just didn't expect you to come together... and he..." she searched for an explanation of how he had gotten tangled up in her little rescue mission "he bravely volunteered his sled to help me with my quest to the North mountain to find you, I notice you don't appear to have come on a sled?" she teased. It was mostly because Kristoff wouldn't let either sister anywhere near his sled since the last incident, even after Anna had very kindly got him the latest model.
Elsa quirked a brow. "Does he hate me that much?" she asked, trying to keep a straight face. "He does seem rather uncomfortable around me." And she did so love to hear Anna and Kristoff dancing around their little rescue mission. For two people who were so obviously enamored of one another, they certainly danced around it. Even odder considering that neither was known for being all that shy or reserved about certain things.
"No sled," she agreed after a bit. She looked at the building. "This place doesn't need one," she looked back to Anna. "And you're avoiding my question," she tapped her sister in the chest with an index finger. "Do you want to stay here, or do you want to go home?"
There, Elsa was laying it out much more in black and white. Rather hard to avoid that one when asked that way, even with someone like Anna, who could vomit words at a rather impressive rate.

"No! Not at all!" Anna reassured quickly, waving her hands for emphasis "He doesn't hate you! He's just... awkward? He hasn't spent a lot of time around people, he was raised by trolls, you know how it is. Okay, so, you don't, but, he's just awkward." she repeated, nodding slightly to herself "He doesn't hate you."
She could agree that the place didn't need a sled, she imagined Kristoff wouldn't have allowed one to come through the portal in case he lost another anyway, he was probably pining for the one he'd left at home. And Sven, he would definitely be pining for Sven.
"Oh, I'm not sure," she admitted "it's very interesting here, and I think they might be planning on starting up the school again, which might be pretty cool... what about you? Do you want to stay here? Can we even go home? Are there portals back?"
Elsa's lips quirked, but she didn't say anything. Let Anna figure out Kristoff on her own. The bit about trolls did have her nearly laughing, remembering the awkward conversations they'd had as a result of said trolls. She reached up, again running her hands along green, letting just a little of her magic waft out. It was more out of a nervous habit, a desire to create and change.
"It may be a good idea for us both," admitted Elsa. "We didn't exactly get a lot of opportunities to socialize growing up, and this place seems to have people. I'm... concerned about my abilities to handle that part of ruling," she watched the frost crawl down the plants, loosening the door. "I don't know about portals, but I'm sure they'll find a way for us to go home soon," Elsa met her sister's eyes. "Though of course we can stay..."
Elsa just couldn't quite come out and admit it: she wanted to stay. Part of her very much did not feel ready to start ruling, and part of her really wanted the chance to meet new people, to meet different people, maybe people who saw things more her way...

Anna had spent a lot of time growing up not getting to know her sister, and there were plenty of things they were still learning about each other, but despite that she knew Elsa well enough to pick up on that faint hopefulness in the way she spoke. Maybe it was just because her own thoughts were aligned so closely with her sister's in this instance, but she understood what Elsa wasn't saying almost instantly.
"I think you're right," she nodded "There's a lot we can learn here, a lot that's going to be really useful for us when we do get home, and maybe we can even make some friends that will be helpful as well," there were probably all kinds of people here, people who could teach them new and interesting things, other royals who they could potentially form alliances with.
"Once the place gets cleaned up and back on form, anyway," she smiled.
Elsa nodded, not quite able to hide her relief in her sister's agreement. She reached a hand over, taking her sister's for a moment and giving it a light squeeze. Just a light touch; the contact still made Elsa nervous, even with her sister, even after everything else. Still, a little touch; she was moving forward, and she kept trying.
Now Elsa stared down the plants in front of her. "Yes, they'll need some cleaning up," she reached up, putting her hands along it and focusing. Frost and cold spread its fingers across, white and blue spreading, before Elsa pulled back. "Do you think..." she frowned, looking over at her sister. "It's all plants and... I could clear whole areas of this school, couldn't I?" she frowned, not liking how nervous and unsure about this she sounded. Elsa looked back at the plant, giving it a hard look, as if it had insulted her.

Anna was so pleased when Elsa reached over to take her hand, she squeezed it in return, very careful to keep it gentle and not resort to her usual enthusiasm, she wanted to encourage Elsa whenever she was the one to make physical contact, and that was twice in one conversation!
"...oh! Wow!" Anna's eyes widened in amazement. She reached out to one of the crystalized leaves, snapping it in half with ease "You could!" she agreed eagerly "It would be so much easier to clean it all up with your powers, I bet they'd be really happy to have you help!" Elsa was definitely powerful enough to make a big difference to the place, she could probably freeze up all the plants on a whole building in one go! Clearing them might take a little more work, but it would be a lot less with Elsa helping out.
"It would take a good deal more than just freezing it all," cautioned Elsa. she looked over the building. "I could freeze all these plants," she tapped the closest one, sending more ice and frost spiraling up the green. "But if they're tucked in somewhere, there could be damage. Still, it would be better," Elsa leaned forward, pushing her frost against it, channeling it all in a burst. The green in front of her expanded, cracked, and then broke.
Elsa jumped back, almost bumping into Anna as she did. Chunks of iced plant fell with loud plops in front of them, some rocking, some simply shattering upon impact.
"Still probably easier," admitted Elsa, nudging the frozen plant with her foot, watching bits of it falling off.

Anna wobbled dangerously as she both jumped at the noise and tried to avoid Elsa hitting her, her balance wavering for a moment before she lost it completely and fell backwards, landing on her behind with an 'oof' noise.
"You'd probably have to do it a bit at a time," she agreed, pushing herself up to her feet, at this point she was sort of used to falling over, she seemed to do it far more than she meant to. Sometimes she wished she could have Elsa's grace and poise, but then she supposed that just wasn't who she was. At least she could be royal enough to not embarrass Elsa. Most of the time.
