General Rules
1. No drama - if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Obviously this only counts OOC, we don't really care if your characters fight like cats and dogs, but we'd rather you didn't.
If you have a problem with anybody on the board that you're having trouble resolving peacefully, please take it to a mod.
2. Don't take it personally - as we say, we don't really care if your characters fight like cats and dogs - and you shouldn't either. IC =/= OOC.
Not everybody's going to like your character, that doesn't mean they don't like you, don't hold grudges against people for something their character has done.
3. Respect your fellow players. We all have different beliefs, lifestyles and views, if you disagree with something, either leave it, or - if you simply must say something - voice your disagreement as politely as possible.
Prejudice against race, sexuality or religion of any kind will not be tolerated.
4. Do not spam - this means don't post rubbish and don't post things more than once. Try to avoid double posting in the same thread unless it's relevent (absence threads where you're updating on your situation, your own plot thread, kudos threads, they're all places double posting CAN be appropriate).
5. Do not send other people on the site personal invitations to your own. If you get one, please contact the admin. We have an ads thread for such things.
6. Please keep your signatures to 500x300 maximum, to avoid stretching the forum.
RolePlay Rules
1. Don't start posting your character IC until your application has been approved - this can take anywhere up to a couple of days if the mods are very busy, so please be patient. You can post in OOC areas in the meantime.
(Do NOT pester mods to accept your app, they will always get to it.)
2. Do not Godmode. This can mean a couple of things. The more serious of the two is controlling other people's characters without their permission - it's rude, it's annoying, don't do it.
It can also refer to making your character so powerful they can do anything and never get hurt. If your character does get in a fight, remember that sometimes other people get blows in too. Overly powerful characters need to make sure they read the application notes regarding usage of their powers.
3. Be Polite. If a thread is tagged to someone specific, you can't join unless you have permission from the people in the scene, or it's labelled '/open'.
For open threads that have been joined, it's usually polite to double check nobody minds before jumping in.
'Free for all' tags mean just that, just go for it.
4. The format on this site is third person past prose, please stick to it. This means no *actions*, no chat speak, no other person or tense. The reason for the enforcement is simple - if everybody does it the same way, the story flows much better player-player.
5. Headers, lyrics, outfit links, pretty text... please keep it to a minimum. Headers etc are allowed but preferably only on the first post. It's much easier to read otherwise and doesn't disrupt the flow.
6. Try and make your posts a reasonable length - 2-3 paragraphs minimum. We're not expecting you to write an essay every time, but we do like to see a fair standard of length amongst our posts. We understand occasionally it can be a bad day and you might not be able to write as much as usual, just don't make a habit out of it.
7. Pay Attention! Actually read what people have written, make sure you know everything that's going on before you post, because it can get really annoying if your post ignores something really important in the posts before it.
8. You are allowed to have multiple characters, in fact we encourage it! But please be aware we expect you to remain active, and you need to have at least 20 IC posts with each character before taking another one.
9. We operate a PG-13 rating here so keep to it. With any scenes of a sexual nature fade to blacks are your friends. Swearing is not allowed due to recent crackdowns and forum deletions, so please use starring.
10. Please keep active, and post in the absence thread if you're going to be away for any reason. Our system for monitoring activity can be found here
