personailty: Self-assured would be a mild, polite way to state the fact that Shere Khan is honestly a little fond of himself. It's not that he expects other people to like him as well, it's just that he likes himself enough that he doesn't care what they think, generally speaking. He's fond of the ladies, but he doesn't take rejection very hard because he doesn't usually take relationships all that seriously. He's capable of monogamy, but it would take a special kind of person to be willing to withstand that kind of torture. He loves to push people's buttons, to the point that he's gotten himself into physical fights he can't win because he can't keep his mouth shut.

appearance:
Shere, when he isn't skulking in a corner somewhere, stands at about six feet, give or take an inch (usually give - he has a tendency to wear pretty high boots, which only serve to make him seem taller than he already is.) He also can't be bothered to shave a lot of the time, and can often be seen with two or three days worth of facial hair complimenting his already scruffy appearance. He keeps his hair just above his shoulders, much to the dismay of any adult role model he's ever had.

He's not much for cultural trends, particularly when it comes to fashion, and really wears whatever he feels comfortable in. This is usually a pair of jeans and whatever t-shirt he happens to have clean that day, although if he's trying to look debonaire, he might don a button up top with a few of the buttons undone. He does enjoy taking off his shirt whenever possible, and has been known to climb into whatever body of water might be around as an excuse to do so.

Shere Khan's parents were remarkably nice people, considering the path their son seems to have taken. They were missionaries, and their chosen mission sight was somewhere along the Ganges river. Shere was born there, and his parents, doing their best to adhere to the cultural norms around them, gave him a name indicative of their location. It was apparent from his earliest years, though, that even on the mission field, it was possible for youngsters to get into the worst sorts of trouble. Shere associated with the rabble-rousers of the village he and his parents lived in, grew up alongside the troublemakers of the town, and gathered more than a few of their worst habits. He was an arsonist; he and his friends lit things on fire just to watch them burn. He stole things from his parents and others, and he terrorized the younger children of the village because it made him feel powerful.

By the time he was sixteen, things had gone from bad to about the worst they'd get. His parents despaired of ever turning him back to the ways he was supposed to have been brought up in, and he was all but running wild in the streets with his little band of troublemakers. One night, though, they chose the wrong target for their mischief making. It happened that a strange boy (named Mowgli) had come wandering into town not long before, and had been put in what they thought was an empty hut. Shere Khan was the one who lit the hut on fire, he was the one who ran inside before hand to steal things that might have been lying around...and he was the one face Mowgli saw that he could associate with the crime. When it was discovered what had happened, Shere's parents decided that they could no longer keep him there, no longer allow him to tarnish the purpose of their mission their. He was sent away from the mission, away from the place he'd grown up in, to Avalon, where he began attempting to catch up in the academics he hadn't had adequate exposure to in his less-than-traditional upbringing.

He managed to graduate from the academy after working his proverbial tail off, and moved on to the University, where he is still causing trouble to this day. Rest assured, though, he's not exactly pleased about being shipped off here, so if that little Mowgli brat ever shows up, he'll have some answering to do.
