They had returned from the Christmas Village and with the shift came the dread that had been blurred by the momentary comfort of the wintry illusion. Part of her comfort was due to a certain wish coming true, though she loathed to admit it. The part she was heavily leaning on was that part of her memory had been tampered with. She'd forgotten a large part of why she was feeling extra miserable lately. She hadn't realized how much her most recent transgression was effecting her until the weight of it was gone and then suddenly returned. Mordred. An entire complex relationship vanished and then returned. Mordred had returned and, with the name, a labyrinth of painful memories. Ten thousand pros and cons. Laughter and tears. Not to mention the return of Mordred was at war with the absence of Hinrik. The only thing more cruel than having them claw at her brain and twist her heart at the same time, was giving her a brief moment where they were separate from each other than crammed violently back together when it was all over. Mordred was gone for the moments she spent with Hinrik. She was unburdened by the things she'd done with Mordred while he was away. Now Hinrik was out of sight, but certainly not out of mind. Nor was Mordred and the mistakes they'd made together.
Aiden was in the sports complex. Which was odd for Aiden. She usually got her work out in while dancing, so the complex was unfamiliar. This was only good because anywhere familiar seemed to heighten her memories and turn them into dizzying nightmares. Luckily this was a magical school with many students that participated in sports other than the traditional ones she saw back in Seattle. So there were swordplay dummies and targets or archery, even a few things she could only guess were for magic users or people from different planets. Aiden was standing near the weapons wall, pretending to mull them over. What she was really thinking was how crazy it was that they had a weapons wall when crazy people like Mordred went to this school, or stupid people like Costin. She eventually picked up a dagger, vaguely wondering if she might be able to steal it and keep it under her pillow.
