Carmilla had been in her dorm room for not even an hour, and already the half of the room she had claimed was looking...very lived in, if we were going to put it generously. Her bedsheets and blankets were already strewn across the bed, the clothes she had managed to gather (an impossibly quick revisit to her New York apartment saw to regathering her belongings, although God only knew how close she could've gotten to being caught by her mother) were put in the closet, but rather haphazardly, there was already a pile of books on her side table, and somehow there was hair in the shared bathtub. Right now, Carmilla was lying in her bed, legs up against the headboard, book held up as she read it. It was some light reading, one of those books that explored the philosophy of popular stories, and the moment she caught sight of one on Twilight of all things, she thought, Oh this ought to be good and took it out of the library for a laugh.
Although she had to admit, the mentions of how often the instinctive hunger and romantic/sexual hunger were intermingled even for humans...fine, that was a point for you, Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture...even if that was one of the most basic comparisons between human desire and vampire hunger, something that countless upon countless of historians that studied this sort of thing had noted...oh nevermind.
It wasn't very long into her attempt to read this that she heard footsteps just outside the door...ah, so her roommate was probably showing up, and there was the added bonus that she wasn't going to be encouraged to lure her into a death cult. Fantastic.

Anna had really wanted to be rooming with her sister, but apparently that wasn't how it worked in this place, and while it would have been nice to get that chance to bond with Elsa, maybe this was a good thing.. if she had a different roommate that meant Elsa did, and that meant she had to make a friend and actually put herself out there, and that was definitely something she needed to do more of, so Anna was all in favour of that. Besides, she was quite excited to meet someone new herself, even if they hadn't shown up yet.
Then she walked into her room and realised that, actually, they had. The other girl had so thoroughly settled in that Anna almost did a double take when she saw the state of the other half of the room, it had been so empty when she left this morning that seeing it suddenly full and strewn with things was a bit of a shock, it almost made her feel as though she'd been away a lot longer than she thought she had.
"Hi," she shook away her surprise quickly and remembered her manners, turning to the dark haired girl with a bright, welcoming smile. "You must be my roommate, I'm Anna, it's nice to meet you."

Her prediction was confirmed as the door opened, and she could now hear footsteps and a heartbeat. In spite of herself, she found herself tilting her head back to take a look, albeit an upside down one. The girl was pretty in the naive princess way (she had a feeling there were a LOT of those around here), although what struck her more was the shocked look on her face upon seeing Carmilla's half of the room. That painted a smirk on her lips. Carmilla always did love shocking people, after all...
"Hey," she greeted back. "Carmilla." Huh, now that she thought of it, she couldn't remember the last time she heard someone pronounce the name "Anna" that way...the last time she was in Norway, she supposed...it was funny that Mattie of all people wanted to go to Aspen, it wasn't like her type of traveling usually involved sports, let alone skiing...but yeah, she supposed it wasn't that surprising. People seemed to come here from all over, even places that weren't supposed to exist.
Anyway, this book wasn't going to occupy her for much longer, so she shut it and rolled onto her stomach so she didn't have to look like she was about to snap her own neck, and she could get a better look at her new roommate...God, her mother would've been all over her to lure this girl in, wouldn't she have? She briefly scowled at the thought. Someday she'd go an hour without thinking of that. How such games became an obsession could only be accounted by how even the most menial jobs became some humans' only thoughts.
She shot a glance out the window, noting that daylight was probably an hour away from fading, thank God...then she looked back at the girl, wondering if she'd have an easy enough time hiding her borderline nocturnal schedule from her...or if there was even a point of it. CLEARLY anything went around here...even if she was still keeping what she was quiet from Elsa...for the time being...
"Well, make yourself at home, cutie."

"Nice to meet you, Carmilla," Anna said politely, though she hovered awkwardly for a moment more, watching the girl and uncertain what to do next. She'd never shared a space so closely with anyone before, unless you counted her sister, and since her and Elsa hadn't shared a room since they were very small she was pretty sure it didn't count.
When the other woman spoke again, she blushed, realising she was just standing there, and moved to put away her things and make herself comfortable.
"So... have you only just arrived here? Or have you been here before? I know a lot of people have, although most of them seem to be older, not that I'm saying you couldn't have, they just... I'm sorry I'm being weird, let me start again. How long have you been here, Carmilla?"
