Lorelei was stuck in a boys' dorm window.
In her defense, it should've opened all the way. Really, who didn't have windows that could open wide enough for someone as scrawny as Lorelei to fit through? She might actually have been able to fit if, you know, she wasn't afraid of crunching precious bits that had only just finished recovering properly. As it stood, she was a little worried about wriggling free or wriggling out, which presented quite a bit of a problem, seeing as she was only in the window in the first place because she'd heard the door opening.
Why was she in the dorm in the first place?
So Lorelei might have heard tell that there was an evil group of foxes that could also turn into wolves? That was a rumor that someone had started spreading and it checked with some of Lorelei's notes, so she figured better check it out, potentially save the school from a werefox infestation (as opposed to the vampire infestation they were going to work through anyway). She might have spelled her way past the door (one of the few non-healing spells). She may have been rummaging around. She may have panicked and figured the door was a great way out.
She was definitely stuck.
"Next time," she mumbled, trying to reach down, "pull the dagger out first," because of course she had a dagger. She was her parents' daughter. If you snuck in somewhere dangerous, you had a weapon. If her dad had his way, Lorelei would go around armed just in general, let alone when doing somethingstupiddangerous. "I'm gonna get caught and either eaten or on someone else's list," Lorelei mumbled, trying to take a deep breath. She had maybe ten seconds to think of a good story...
