Personality:
Meg likes to think of herself as something special. She feels very different than the rest of the population, so you’ll usually find her by herself, with a witty remark for any situation. And she’s smart and could be good at school if she applied herself, but who has the time?
She likes to think of herself as cool and chill, but the truth is she’s just disconnected. Meg doesn’t trust anyone. She doesn’t do friends, she doesn’t have crushes, and she certainly doesn’t fall in love. Men are jerks anyway. That doesn’t mean she won’t flirt (she has a thing for muscles) or have fun with those around her, especially if they keep up with her banter, but she won’t let herself get attached to anyone. The best way she shows her detachment is through never learning anyone’s name. Sure, she’ll give everyone some nicknames, but she’ll never call anyone by their name. Nobody's that important.
Now, what really defines Meg is how dishonest she is. She’s a great actress and a great liar, but most importantly, she lies to herself a lot. She doesn’t need anyone. She’s better on her own. Who needs friends, anyway? It all works well for her, until she meets honest people. She can’t deal with those at all. It startles her when someone is genuine and honest, which usually leads to her running in the opposite direction and doing whatever it takes for her to never deal with that person ever again.
Even though she’s cold and detached, Meg has some good things going for her. Her sarcastic humor and enjoyment of teasing others makes her a bit entertaining to have around. She’s also smart enough to come up with plans and be sneaky enough to get away with what she wants. She believes her life is just a bunch of random, unlucky situations and she’s fully embraced just being a peon of bad circumstances. At some points, she even jokes about it.
Appearance:
If you judged Meg merely by her appearance, you’d call her frail. She’s small and thin, with long legs and narrow shoulders. She has long, bright red hair that falls on waves, although she usually keeps it away from her in a high pony tail. Her skin is pale and white, making a big contrast between her bright hair and her face.
Meg likes to take care of herself, putting time and effort in her looks, usually wearing dark make up with bright red lips. She likes to think she knows a thing or two about fashion and style, even if her clothes look usually a tad too big to hide her small frame.
What’s more noticeable about her are her eyes. It’s not every day you see someone with natural violet eyes. She knows it too, since she pays particular attention in making her eyes pop as much a she can. Without make up her eyes seem wide and open, which she hates and tries to hide, because she’s well aware it makes her look scared and far younger than she truly is. It helps that Meg’s usual expression is a slight sardonic smile that makes her look constantly that she’s up to something. It’s obvious she’s not as innocent as she looks.
History:
In Avalon, Meg grew wiser and savvier about her relationships and life. She might have never been free of Hades’ grip, but she found she didn’t have to follow through his plans and she could trust others. The biggest influence being Arthur, of course, and even though things never worked with him, he did end up teaching her to trust others. But that's another story.
In this world, though? Megara grew up the only child of a loving mother and father in the tiny town of who cares? Boring, right? That’s exactly what she thought of her life. Life’s just too short to stay at home with a loving mom and dad, especially when there’s so much to do and see. That’s why Meg left as soon as she could, running away from home. No one would miss her anyway. On the road, she met the one love of her life. Or rather, fell for the only sort of nice person she found in her escapade. Sure, they were young, but it was real. Maybe that’s why he convinced her to give up her soul for him to some dark god or whatever. Hey, everybody knows those stories aren’t true anyway. Sure, she signed a contract. Sure, there was some magical looking sparks and everything. Sure, the jerk left her as soon as he was healthy. But who was to say it was just a miracle given by the god of the underworld? It was probably just a coincidence. Like a natural, scientifically explainable miracle. Is that a thing?
Anyway, the portal showed up then and Meg jumped at the opportunity to run away from all her problems. She arrived, confused and completely out of place, but she got the help she needed and became the regular student she is now. She has a scholarship, which she can barely keep with her grades. Hey, the bare minimum is still hard work, okay? Besides, she was in a new world! She was free! She was no one's whatever that contract signed her to do. It wasn't like gods could jump through Portals anyway. Or that they even existed.
Other: Sorry it’s so bad. I’m really rusty.
TELLtheTALE
Sample Post:
Megara stared at her reflection in the bathroom. How dumb could someone be? Of course he was only using her to get healthy. She wasn’t born yesterday! What the hell had she been thinking? It was so obvious, and yet, she’d thought they were in love. “Ugh.” She made a face at her reflection, expressing disgust at the thought. Men didn’t fall in love. Why had she forgotten about that? She’d let his empty promises fill her head and numb her mind, so it was really her fault. No one else to blame but herself.
“Don’t.” She ordered herself as she felt her eyes get watery. “You’re an idiot. A total fool. By Zeus. How dumb can you get?” She scolded herself, “This is all your fault, you stupid idiot. And now some other world underground fire breathing god will come and take you away to be his- whatever it is gods do.” Her eyes narrowed at her reflection. “Stupid Meg. Now you’re going to be a sex slave.” Because, why else would someone want her?
The noise of toilet flushing made her stand straighter. Well, damn. She should’ve checked she was alone in the bathroom. The very public bathroom. “See?” She said out loud at her reflection. “This is proof you’ve gone mad.” And that’s probably what the girl stepping out of the toilet thought, considering the look Meg was being given.
“Hey.” She greeted with a forced smile. The girl hurried washing her hands. “I suppose I couldn’t interest you in selling your soul to the underworld god, could I?” A fair trade, right? The other girl hurried outside, not even answering. “Thought so.” Meg whispered as she was alone in the room again. Back to self berating in front of a mirror. That wasn’t pathetic at all, was it?
“Who cares, Meg?” She told herself, rolling her eyes. “It’s not like there are gods or demigods or underworld lords with a plot for revenge.” She forced a laugh out, finding humor in the ridiculousness of the situation.
And then she saw the sparks start to build up around her… “Yup.” She muttered under her breath. “Seems about right.”
