Personality:
Dionysus is the god of theatre, so as you can imagine, he has a tendency to be a tad dramatic. He wouldn't be out of place acting in a telenovella, in fact. He can be a tad over the top, his reactions to, well, everything, tend to be loud, dramatic and crowd-drawing. He loves nothing more than to have all eyes and attention on him, and will do what is necessary to make that happen. Tell him you broke a nail this morning and he's likely to cry, loudly, in a very public space. He is flamboyant, effeminate and is, in every way, the ultimate thespian.
Dionysus is the life and soul of the party, he has been described as bringing joy and ecstasy wherever he goes - given that he's also the god of ritual ecstasy and madness, that's hardly surprising. He is a highly sexualised being, he will flirt with literally anything, and parties he attends do have this strange tendency to turn into orgies. Well, he is the god of ritual madness, after all, it's not his fault.
He does have a dark side, however. Dionysus could never be described as a calm person, and while this translates to excitement and ecstasy on a good day, cross him and this will turn to a blinding, brutal and vengeful rage - his particular favourite is driving the people you love mad enough to literally tear you to pieces, so try to avoid upsetting him.
Appearance:
Dionysus is incredibly attractive. He IS, don't tell him otherwise. Sure, his hair is greying, wrinkles are forming and certain areas aren't quite as tight as they used to be, but he is still the most attractive of the residents of Mount Olympus, and he won't hear otherwise.
Having grown up in the Underworld, Dionysus is somewhat preoccupied with making sure that his skin tone is far, far from pale, and for his human appearance at Tintagel he's gone for a Mexican look, with a deep tan. He has black hair, greying at the sides - but don't mention that - with brown eyes. He is tall and muscular, watching what he eats and making sure to keep that six pack looking good. He generally wears suits, when he's not in costume for his latest performance, that is. And he has no problem dressing in drag.
History:
Dionysus hasn't had an easy life, especially compared to some of his Godly siblings. The only God born of a mortal mother, he experienced tragedy early in life - before he was born in fact. Through the scheming of his father, Zeus' wife Hera, his mother was killed when Zeus was forced to reveal his divine form to her. Zeus managed to save Dionysus in his unborn fetal form, and stitched him to his thigh until he was ready to be born, giving him his immortal status.
Not a God yet though. He had to work for that one. Hera was still pretty dangerously jealous, so Zeus placed Dionysus under Hermes care, who decided the best way to hide and protect Dionysus was to raise him as a girl. Queue gender identity issues. However, Hera wasn't done, and when she sent the Titans to rip Dionysus apart, Zeus saved his heart, stitched it to his leg again and re-birthed him. Hello Daddy issues.
Dionysus needed protection from Hera, so Persephone took him to the Underworld, where he managed to grow to adulthood without incident. Growing up in the Underworld, away from Olympus distanced him from his father and the other Gods, but created an odd bond between himself and Hades, and an odd bond between himself and Hades' minions. His connections with the Underworld also, on learning about his real mother and what happened to her, allowed him to retrieve her soul and take it back to Earth - something very few Gods have managed successfully. Many years later, Dionysus would do the same on the death of his wife Ariadne, journeying back to the Underworld and arguing with Thanatos, and returning his wife to life.
Dionysus spent most of his young adulthood wandering the Earth, and hasn't had any easy life - between being kidnapped by pirates and imprisoned by Kings who don't believe he is who he says he is, his temper and sense of revenge have grown exponentially. Dionysus does not like to be messed with, and he's really quite sick of being imprisoned. His wanderings did allow him to learn the culture of the grape vine, though and invent the wonder known as wine - which dear old Dad felt was enough to earn him his God status and a place on Olympus, at last. Where he found himself a bit of an outsider given his late deification compared to his brothers and sisters. Thank the gods for his invention, right?
But now, Dio is having a bit of a mid-life crisis - various members of his family are heading to this school, Hera still hates him and wants him off of her cloud, and while his wine invention was great and all, he really wants to be back on Earth, where all the fun and the orgies happen in his name. So where better to head than to follow his dad-brother Hermes, dad-uncle Hades and estranged brother Apollo to this school, where he can take up the role of drama teacher, embrace his love of wine and theatre, and figure out who he really is.

TELLtheTALE
Sample Post:
"She said I'm too DRAMATIC?!" Dionysus yelled, flinging his arms in the air and knocking a vase flying. Luckily, this is Olympus and nothing breaks. "How very DARE she?"
Throwing himself face down onto his bed, Dionysus buried his face in his arms, making sure there was just enough space to watch his father through the gaps between his arms. He watched his father sigh, rubbing his head, and roll his eyes at his son.
"She just wants me dead. Again." Dionysus gave a huge (fake) sob, throwing himself onto his back, his arm over his eyes. Very dramatically. "Fine. Maybe I should die. Nobody wants me here."
His father rolled his eyes, loathed to point out for the third time this week that Dionysus was in fact a fully matured God now, not a stroppy teenager. Instead he folded his arms, watching Dionysus in silence with a raised eyebrow.
Peeking out from under his arm, Dionysus huffed and sat up, straightening his toga. "Fine." He muttered, standing and checking his reflection, smoothing down his hair. "Fine. Maybe I'll just go that school everyone's always talking about. Impart some of my knowledge and wisdom in the dramatic arts. The God of Drama ought to be pretty good at teaching it. And since no one wants me around here..." He scowled, his temper threatening to flare, before taking a deep breath. "Since no one wants me around here then maybe I'll go catch up with one of my other dads." He turned to his father, his head held high.
"And maybe I'll just take all the wine, too." He couldn't help but smirk at the panic in old Zeus' eye at that thought.
