Personality: Hodr is a very meek young man. As the least spectacular of Odin’s children he is often quiet and overlooked. He prefers the quietness of his own chambers than the look and often confusing Mead Hall of his father. He often feels lost in too much noise and confusion. His inability to see is only a problem when his other senses are overwhelmed. And in those moments it can be very isolating to be the only one without the capability of sight.
As a son of Odin Hodr is fairly athletic. He can swing a sword and throw an axe. He prefers to be indoors being useful in some other way though, as training can be dangerous for others without the proper guidance. As long as Baldr is there to help him aim, he has fairly decent spear throwing abilities. He can do just about everything that a person with sight can do as long as there's something to guide him. However he prefers to work with his hands to create something rather than training. He knows that he'd be useless in a war anyway. It's a much better use of his time to create things.
Hodr has few friends among the Aesir and prefers the company of his twin when he can get Baldr to himself. Baldr is the bright sun off Asgard, after all. Hodr is constantly in his shadow. He tries not to be resentful of this. They are brothers, after all, and Baldr is Hodr’s best friend. He is soft spoken where Baldr is loud and brash. He is quiet and contemplative. He is a bit eager to please and constantly fears that he's missing out by not being able to see no matter that he's always been blind.
Hodr, no matter how close he is with his brother, is a bit love starved. Having grown up in both the shadow of the great Thor and Golden Baldr, Hodr is little more than a haunt in the Halls of Asgard. He's hard on himself and limits himself do to a lifetime of never feeling worthy and constantly dismissing himself due to his disability. While he has accepted that he is blind, it is a source of contention with himself. He will never be good enough while he is blind.
Appearance: Hodr is a striking young man. He is equally attractive as his other brothers, but somehow, he had taken to believe that he is very unattractive. Of course, when your twin is the Golden light of Asgard it is hard to see yourself in any other light. He does try to do his hair fashionably, but in the end it doesn't really matter since he can't see what it looks like anyway. He's heard his hair is brown. He feels it's probably unattractive in comparison to Baldr anyway.
Hodr’s wardrobe is full of clothes that are warm and comfortable and large. He insists on wearing grey and browns and greens. The colors and the fact that how clothes are all a little baggy help hodr to hide in the crowds of the Aesir.
Hodr’s most constant accessory is a staff that he carved himself. It helps him to traverse into unknown places on his own and gives him the confidence to do so.
History:Hodr is the third son of Odin and younger twin to Baldr. He was born blind and has always had to traverse the world through touch, smell, audio and taste. As a child he was loved by his family but mostly forgotten. A blind child was not the kind of child that Odin wished for and so Hodr suffered quietly in silence, wishing to be adored like his other brothers.
He and Baldr were always very close and he comforted Baldr as best as he could when the dreams were bad. And together they grew as the sons of Odin should. They learned to fight and to be men. Hodr picked up various useful crafts such as wood carving and knitting that could take up his time when he was safely tucked into the shadows and no one noticed him.
And then the fateful day came. When there is nothing else to be done, throwing things at Baldr was the best kind of entertainment for others. Hodr never liked to feel left out so he joined in. However, in doing so, he trusted Loki to guide his arm. And so Hodr unknowingly threw a mistletoe spear at Baldr, killing him thoroughly.
Everyone mourned, but no mourned quite like Baldr did. He was racked with his own guilt. But nothing would bring his brother back. Nothing could. He was not surprised when Odin bore yet another son. One who grew to adulthood in a day and killed Hodr for killing Baldr. It was better that he die too.
But Baldr was not in the Halls of Helheim when Hodr arrived and by Hel’s great kindness, he was allowed to follow where Baldr had gone to make amends.

TELLtheTALE
Sample Post: Hodr could smell that this place that Hel had graciously allowed him to come to was a place like he has never been before. He felt different. He felt more alive, though that could be because he was alive again. Another of Hel’s gracious gifts. She was much kinder than he had anticipated. He wondered how to show her his gratitude. She deserved something for this. She deserved more than she had ever received from any of the Aesir.
The sound of a bird call drew Hodr from his thoughts. It wasn't a bird call he was used to. It was beautiful in it's newness. And the he heard another bird. A different bird from the first. He wondered what this place was. Hel’s only instructions had been to learn as much as he could. And he would.
And he would find his brother and try to make up for his death. Somehow he would find a way. He took a step forward. The ground was springy under his feet. He swung his staff in front of him as he kept moving forward. His staff hit something with a solid thwap. Something solid, but also soft and fleshy. “Forgive me,” he said to what he hoped was a person and not a large wolf. “I did not see you there.”
