Concern was etched onto Genevieve's features as Lorelei began to speak, and she placed her mug down so she could turn and face Lorelei fully, taking Lorelei's mug and placing it on the desk as well, before taking both of Lorelei's hands in hers and holding them tightly. She let her get it all out, calmly listening and watching her sister - this was what she did best, after all.
She squeezed Lorelei's hands when she finished speaking, and gave her a small but encouraging smile. "Lorelei, you look so much like Mum. It's almost uncanny sometimes. But regardless of that, why does it matter?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. "You are so beautiful, and so clever and funny and interesting and unique - why does it matter so much if you look like Mum?"
"It's not stupid. Not at all. Lorelei, you've just been through something really scary and traumatic - you are allowed to let yourself feel that. You need to let yourself feel that. And if feeling that is getting upset and worried about scars, then that is completely valid. But you are not messed up. Scars fade with time, just like the wounds heal with time. But that does not mean that you are not completely justified in your feelings - if you are feeling something then it is justified, it doesn't matter what it is, or what anyone else says or thinks. And it is not," she squeezed Lorelei's good hand a little tighter, "stupid. Never use that word to describe what you are feeling."
Leaning forward, she pulled Lorelei into a gentle but firm hug. "And you're not super goofy, either. You're you, and that's the best thing you could ever be."

God, Vivi was so much like their mom sometimes it just hurt. Why couldn't Lorelei have gotten any of her mother's genes? Okay, she sort of had the same bone structure and all, and Vivi did seem to think that maybe she looked like her... and Jenny had sort of said the same thing , but, like, there was no comparing the put together super mom and her giant dork of a spare daughter. The bit about her being unique did have Lorelei laughing a little: there was a one adjective she'd gladly own up to.
She was still crying though, particularly because Vivi couldn't just stop being nice. That was apparently part of being a Summer: when you got down to it, they were all such good people, weren't they?
"You have to say all that," she mumbled. "You're my sister," she sniffed. Lorelei leaned into the hug. She looked up at Vivi all the same. "You really think I"m all that?" because she definitely hadn't just said otherwise.
She felt Lorelei lean into her, and she closed her arms a little tighter around her, resting her head on the top of Lorelei's. She smiled, feeling more glad than ever that she had come, and feeling that bond with Lorelei strengthening. Genevieve prided herself on her relationships with all her siblings, and how close she felt to each and every one of them - even Jenny. Family was the most important thing in the world in Genevieve's eyes, something else she had inherited from her mother, and she had always felt that with the huge differences between each of them it was important that they had someone to bind them altogether, an anchor that kept them all from drifting apart. And Genevieve was happy to be that anchor. And in being that anchor she knew how important it was that she work to keep her relationships with her siblings strong and loving - and apart from anything else she wanted to have strong bonds with all of her siblings.
She laughed a little at Lorelei's words. "I don't have to say anything. I wouldn't say it if I didn't know it was true. Where would be the good in lying to you?" She pulled away from the hug a little, smiling at her sister. "Besides, you know me, honest Genevieve. I don't tell lies. If I can't avoid it, I just don't say anything." She smiled conspiratorially, wiping a tear from her sister's cheek. "Now, I think you are in definite need of more chocolate."

"Yeah, I know," admitted Lorelei, sighing again. She almost felt like someone had cast a heal spell on her. Maybe that was just some of Vivi's magic, or some variation of it. Something that leaked in and started healing the parts that mattered. Good magic, that. Lorelei had to smile as Vivi wiped a tear from her cheek.
"Oh, definitely," she agreed, looking around for the bar and all. "I'm never going to object to more chocolate, that's for sure. That's one of the better parts of being here," she nodded, shifting. The shift hurt slightly, but it helped Lorelei get into a fairly comfortable position which wasn't quite leaning so heavily upon her sister. That moment had passed; Lorelei wanted to move on, at the least.
She took a breath, letting it out slowly. "You act a lot like Mom, you know," she said, looking over at her sister and smiling, "in all the best ways."
"Well that is definitely something I can agree with." Genevieve smiled, passing Lorelei another chocolate bar. "When I go back home I'm going to have to find some way of making sure I can get a constant supply. I won't cope with out it." She grinned at Lorelei.
She lowered her eyes with a shy smile at Lorelei's next words. "I don't know. Mum's better at this stuff than me. I just want to make sure you're ok." She looked up and smiled at her sister. "You are ok, aren't you?" A look of concern passed over her face. "I mean, you're going to look after yourself, aren't you? You're not going to start pushing yourself too fast and cocooning yourself in blankets on the floor the second I'm gone?" She raised an eyebrow at Lorelei. "You know I'll move in here if I to." She teased with a smile.

Go back home. Lorelei had to stop and think about that. Would she even want to go back? To visit mom and dad, sure. But when she compared the Summer Country, awesome as it was, to here? The comparison didn't seem remotely even to Lorelei, even if she did happen to be technically royal. Her parents weren't likely to marry her off, but... still.
Vivi's comments had Lorelei smiling all the same. "I'm getting better," she insisted. "Honestly. like, it would be really dumb of me to be all 'i'm totally okay' and all. I got stabbed. But I probably will totally cocoon myself. That was ridiculously comfortable."
She shuffled some blankets around her, grinning up at her sister. "And you really shouldn't use moving in here as a threat. That doesn't sound that bad. Though you'd hate living with me, trust me." Just a look around the room confirmed that. Lorelei's lack of activity actually meant her room looked better than it usually did right now.
Laughing Genevieve nodded. "Alright, well I suppose cocooning yourself is fine, as long as it's on the bed rather than the floor and you don't pull your stitches trying to get out of it." She said, realising quite how much she did sound like their mother. "Just make sure you are actually resting."
She laughed at Lorelei's insistence that she'd hate living with her, looking around the room. "I don't know, I could have this place sorted in no time." She grinned. "You just need an organisational system. And it can't be worse than sharing a room with Jenny." She raised an eyebrow conspiratorially at Lorelei.

Lorelei nodded a few times, looking a little abashed. She hadn't exactly been doing the best at resting, something that her aching body was reminding her of quite loudly at the moment. At least now that Vivi had visited her Lorelei almost felt like she could... should? relax. There was something naturally calming and welcoming about Genevieve: Lorelei hadn't been exaggerating the effect the other girl had.
Apparently she could organize too. and threaten. Lorelei actually shuddered at the last. "That's not even funny," she protested. "I'm pretty sure Jenny would kill me--" She paused, considering. "You know, that's actually not that fair? I had lunch with Jenny not long after I got here, and she was actually pretty nice about it. I mean, she was still Jenny, but, like, nice Jenny. We went shopping afterward and she had my hair done."
Lorelei reached up, pulling at one of the strands to examine it. Most of the work had faded by now; it had been very temporary. "Though I do imagine that rooming with her would be utterly horrific," she had to admit. "Didn't you guys actually have to share back home for a while? I mean, I guess we were all younger than, and you had Jesse..."
Though Lorelei wasn't sure how much the oddest of Summers (and that was saying something in that family) counted in regards to reassurance.
Nodding at Lorelei's defence of Jenny, Genevieve smiled. "Jenny is a good person really. She just..." Genevieve thought for a second about how to be diplomatic in regards to her elder sister. Genevieve fully believed that there was good in everybody, especially in her siblings, and worked hard to not only see that good, but to help them bring it out of themselves. Jenny had always been particularly hard work on that front though, especially given that Jenny had spent most of their lives mocking her for her dress sense, her interests, and the fact that Jenny was clearly the favourite in their father's eyes. "She has a lot of Dad in her." Genevieve said finally. "As long as you're showing interest in something she wants to do, then she can be lovely. I'm glad she was nice to you though." Genevieve smiled.
She couldn't help but laugh - rooming with Jenny had been pretty horrific. She nodded, grimacing slightly. "Yes, and younger Jenny was just as much hard work. She cut all my clothes up one day because she said it was the only way to get me to see how bad my dress sense was." Genevieve shook her head at the memory. "Mum said I should to wear Jenny's clothes until she could get me some new dresses made. I ended up wearing some of Jesse's and hiding in the library for a week."
She smiled as conversation came round to her twin though. "I'm very lucky to have Jesse. I know everyone thinks he's a bit strange, but they just have to get to know him. He's so creative, and I suppose that means his mind just doesn't work in the same way as everyone else's." She shrugged, and smiled at Lorelei. "Maybe I just understand him a bit better because we have that twin connection."

Lorelei nodded at Vivi's first mention of their sister, only to find herself pausing and curious as Vivi considered. The explanation just had Lorelei nodding all the more: she definitely agreed with that assessment. It also matched up pretty well with how things had gone well for her the last time she'd spoken at length with her sister: they'd been focused on Jenny's diet and sunbathing and shopping, all different things that Jenny was very much a fan of and in favor of talking about a lot.
"Ugh, that does sound like her," she said as Vivi explained the situation. "I think I remember that? mostly because I kept running into you in the library," they both had spent quite a bit of time in there. Though Lorelei didn't quite squirrel herself away in the shelves like Vivi so often would. Lorelei was more the kind to spend a few minutes finding a book, and she'd then dash outside to read in a tree or something.
Which is actually where she'd encounter their other sibling too. "I know. I mean, he's still a bit odd? But it's not like it's all his fault. I think he's really trying to make friends and stuff here, which I totally get. We used to play together a lot as kids, but, like, you know that. You were kinda there too," since the three of them were all right around the same age, they'd been frequent playmates back in the day. "Sometimes I kinda wish I had a twin too. I had a few stories where I did," she looked around for a moment, but she wasn't even sure she'd brought those notebooks from home. "I do love having all you guys as siblings," she smiled and nodded. "It's great! Even if I am the only one who has Dad for a dad."
Genevieve sighed as they talked about Jesse. "I hate to see how people dismiss him just because he doesn't act they way people expect. If people would give him a chance they'd be so much richer for it." She smiled at Lorelei. "At least he'll always have us. And who knows, in a place like this, perhaps he'll finally meet a kindred spirit. I hope so, anyway."
"Being the only one who has your Dad for a Dad is part of what makes you special. Like Tristian." She grinned at Lorelei. "We're pretty lucky as a family, aren't we? I mean, we're all so different, but it makes it interesting. I've never come across a family quite like ours."

Lorelei found herself nodding again. She also found herself feeling a little guilty about not taking more time to actually go out and find Jesse. "He's in my stories too. I should talk to him sometime," she said, hoping that if she started talking about it, she'd more formally get it out there in existence. The whole speak it and make it true.
She took another deep breath as Vivi continued, wincing only slightly as she felt the motion pull at her stitches. "We do have a unique family... pretty awesome too," she agreed, nodding confidently. She looked around, found her tea again, and took another sip. "I'm so glad we were all able to come here together. It's like bringing a bit of home with you." she yawned and settled down into her bed, a contended smile spreading on her face.
Smiling, Genevieve nodded. "You should, tell him about your stories. With your stories and his sculptures you two are more similar than you'd think." She'd always encourage people to spend time with her twin, but she too felt a twinge of guilt. "I haven't spent enough time with him since we arrived either. He so wanted to meet new people and make new friends that I didn't want to get in the way. And then I discovered the library is three times the size of Merlin's and I've barely seen him since. I should spend some time with him. Maybe the three of us should do something together."
Watching Lorelei settled back into the bed, Genevieve watched her carefully, noting the wince. "You look tired." She said, gathering herself. "Maybe I should let you get some rest? I did come to make sure you were resting after all, not to talk your ear off and stop you from recovering properly." She smiled.

"Well, we did play a lot as kids," Lorelei pointed out. "I think we all sort of wanted to meet new people. I set out to, like, meet all sorts of people first. Gaston Jr. Just sort of found me,' she nestled further in, smiling about the library, "and it's not like we're gonna hold reading against you."
She was tired, though she didn't want to admit it. She shook her head at Vivi's suggestion though: "What you should do is read to me," she said, smiling. "It's not like there aren't enough stories around here to pick from. I've got loads. Or you could do that book thing you wanted me to read," she looked around for a moment, even started to sit up before she thought better of it. Instead Lorelei settled down, pulling up the covers.
After all, getting read to would be far too enjoyable, particularly from someone like Vivi, who was fairly likely to do fun things like voices and the like.
She smiled indulgently, reaching for the book she'd brought as Lorelei got herself more comfortable and pulled the covers over herself. She shifted on the bed, so that Lorelei wouldn't strain herself pulling any of the covers that Genevieve was sitting on, before sitting back on the bed and leaning against the wall, bringing her knees up to rest the book on while she read. She looked down at Lorelei, finding this whole situation a little amusing.
"Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn't hold with such nonsense."
