Personality:
Rapunzel is very upbeat and positive, with a sunny outlook on life despite being so sheltered. She is strong willed, courageous, loyal, and always looks for the best in people.
Despite all the stories her mother told her to frighten her away from the outside world, she doesn't fear it. Everything is new and amazing, and she can't wait to experience everything the world has to offer... at least for the two days she plans to be away from her home. Just two days, one to journey to the lanterns and see them, and another to get home where her mother would be none the wiser.
She feels great guilt for betraying her mother's trust, but it's tempered by her wonder and excitement. She is also just incredibly likable, able to melt the hearts of even the roughest thugs with her starry eyed optimism.
Appearance:
Rapunzel is slim and pale, with large green eyes, and a button nose. Her defining trait, though, is her long, long, loooooong golden hair. Long is an understatement, there are meters of it, and it is as strong as any rope.
She wears simple dresses, often of her own creation, and can't be bothered with shoes so if often found barefoot. No need for shoes when her entire life has been spent inside.
History:
For as long as she can remember, Rapunzel has lived in a tall, stone tower in the middle of a great forest, her only companionship coming from her mother, and a small chameleon she named Pascal. It was a lonely life, but she remained happy and positive, always finding ways to fill her time.
Still, she dreamed of one day stepping outside, experiencing the world on her own, but her mother filled her head with horrible stories of ruffians, deadly creatures, and disease, terrifying the young girl into contentment with her simple life.
As the years passed, though, she grew more restless, and... curious. See, once a year she saw what looked to be special stars in the sky. Charting the stars she discovered it couldn't be, as the stars never moved, but these... floating lights appears only one night a year: on her birthday. It had to mean something, and her greatest wish was to one day travel to where these lights were and see them first hand.
Finally, just before her eighteenth birthday, she got up the courage to ask her mother but was shot down rather harshly. Disappointed and alone, she was unsure how to continue like this when something extraordinary happened. A person crawled through her window. Okay, so that part wasn't exactly extraordinary, as this was her mother's preferred mode of entrance, but this person wasn't her mother, and Rapunzel hadn't pulled them up by her hair.
After beaning the intruder several times with a frying pan and tying him up, they reached a deal. He, Flynn Ryder, would take her to see the floating lights (in exchange for something she had stolen from him but shh).
Alternating between excitement at every new thing she encountered, and guit at betraying her mother, Rapunzel embarked on an adventure... but she didn't reach the lanterns. Instead she found a portal that brought her here, to Tintagel.
Other:
Rapunzel is very talented, excelling in painting, sewing, baking, candle making, knitting... basically she had a lot of time on her hands.
TELLtheTALE
Sample Post:
The grass, the air, the water; it was all just how she had dreamed it would be, yet also somehow more than she ever could have imagined. The grass was cool between her toes, the air had a sweet scent of flowers, the water bubbled and lapped around her feet. It was all so incredible! How had she gone so long without experiencing any of it? She was never going back in her tower!
But... what about Mother? She would be so heartbroken, and Rapunzel did truly love her, she couldn't just leave her without a word. Okay, new plan: she would go see the lanterns, come back home in one piece, and then tell Mother all about her adventures and how she had handled herself and nothing bad happened to her and she was ready for life outside the tower! Certainly with all that proof Mother wouldn't say no, right? They could find a new little cottage somewhere, maybe by the river, and they could run errands together, and every year go see the floating lanterns!
It was a nice dream, but deep down Rapunzel knew it wouldn't be that easy. Mother was going to be so upset with her. It hurt to think about it, what a horrible daughter she had been, but she could deal with that later after... ooh, what was that? It wasn't a whirlpool it was in the air, but it was all swirly and... looking around for Flynn and not seeing him, she approached it. Maybe just a little closer look... how dangerous could it be?
In the blink of an eye she was gone.
