"Primrose!" Giselle called, running after the mischievous wolf cub. She hadn't anticipated that little baby wolves would be so much trouble. But the big wolves didn't seem to even mind, but Primrose was chewing on everything. She couldn't seem to get her to stop. And now she was running away. "Primrose, no!" Giselle cried again, but the little cub wasn't paying her any mind. She didn't know what she was going to do! Such a naughty little cub!
Giselle, her red hair and ribbons streaming behind her managed to make it into the common room in time to catch Primrose. She scooped the naughty fun up into her arms. "That was very night of you to run away from me," she scolded, trying to keep her features stern. But Primrose whined and licked her chin. "Oh you silly wolf," Giselle sighed.
Kristoff was having about the same amount of luck with his new addition. The wolf pup had run off at some point as he and Elsa had approached the school and not wanting it to get hurt any more than it already had he had gone chasing after it. That had meant diving through bushes, jumping walls, climbing over vines and receiving various different cuts and bruises on the way. He imagined it was hungry, probably looking for food, a rumbling in his own stomach revealed that he thought that was a pretty good idea as well.
The wolf ran into the common room and skidded to a halt in front of Giselle and the other wolf pup, sitting on its hind legs looking up at them both, it’s head at a slight angle.
Kristoff came barging into the room after it, almost out of breath, shouting, “Pup! Will you slow down for just one second,” changing the a high gruff voice he said, “ ‘But I can’t Kristoff, I’m Huuuuungry-.’”
A person. There was a person here. Oh no. And she had heard wolf voice. Damn it.
“Uuuuuh…hi,” he said sheepishly, complete with sheepish wave, “that uh…is…is this your wolf?”
Giselle and Primrose noticed the other wolf cub immediately. This one was one that Giselle hadn't met before, but it was just as cute as the rest of the cubs in the pack. And this one looked about the same age as the other cubs. "Hello," Giselle told the little wolf. Primrose gave a little yip and then started to squirm like she wanted to get down.
Both girl and wolf looked up at the sound of the other voice and Giselle actually giggled. Talking for the little wolf cub was quite silly but she enjoyed it. Primrose tilted her head at the sound.
"Hello," Giselle said cheerfully. "Oh no. Primrose isn't my wolf. She has a pack. But I'm friends with the pack. And Primrose here decided to run all around today. She's quite the handful." She gestured at the other wolf cub. "This one is yours?"
He looked down at the pup that he had been chasing and realised that he probably should have given it a name as well. I mean, he was already doing voices for it, he may as well give it a name. He started running through a few in his mind; Erik, Gunther…Bjorn?
“Uh no, not mine, I think he’s part of a pack but…I think they might have left him behind,” he said kneeling down to scratch the ears of the pup who was looking inquisitively at the pup in the redheads arms, “he uh…seems like kind of a loner…” meaning runt, but he wasn’t going to say that, “wait…did you just say you were friends with a wolf pack?”
Primrose gave Giselle a quick lick and then started squirming and whining, wanting to get down. And when Giselle didn't put the little cub down when she wanted, she gave a sharp little bark. "Oh very well," Giselle sighed, setting the cub on the floor gently. "Now be good." Primrose darted over to the other little wolf cub and sniffed him.
That made Giselle sad that this little cub had been left behind. How terrible. How truly terrible for the little thing. "Well I'm glad you found him then. Little wolf cubs shouldn't be alone." She watched the cubs for a moment. "Oh yes," she said turning back to Kristoff. "I can call to the animals and the wolf pack responded to my call. They and several other animals helped clean up in here. They were such wonderful helpers."
“That…that’s amazing,” he said, genuinely impressed, “how did you learn to do that?”
Kristoff’s wolf pup took a few steps back from the excitable Primrose as she approached to sniff him, backing up onto Kristoff’s boots and looking up at him as if to say ‘help’? Kristoff just looked down at him and smiled.
“Now come on Bjorn,” he said with a grin, “be nice to the lady.”
Bjorn huffed, and let out a small bark, before stepping forward to sniff Primrose. Turns out, she didn’t smell too bad, given that he then gave a little bark and started running…clearly expecting her to chase him.
Giselle opened her mouth the reply, but then she had to pause for a moment to think. How had she learned to do that? She couldn't remember which meant that she must have been quite small. And she remembered always having sung, perhaps even before she could talk. "I'm not sure," she said honestly and a bit surprised. "I think I've always been able to call to them. But the animals back in Andolasia also talk and sing, so maybe its because of that. I'm not sure."
Primrose wagged her tail then let out a little bark back at Bjorn. Then she was off and chasing him, trying with all her might to catch him and jump on him.
“Wait, the animals actually talk where you come from?” said Kristoff, genuinely interested, “that’s amazing…I usually have to talk for Sven.”
He realised a little too late that he had said that out loud rather than in his head and quickly followed it up with, “Uh, Sven’s my reindeer, he’s at home, he doesn’t talk, but uh….sometimes I…pretend he does and…do a voice and-it’s just a…just a…thing we do…so…yeeeah…looks like these guys are getting along.”
Bjorn was losing ground and Primrose was gaining on him, he continued to dash around the room until he came back to Kristoff’s feet and barked at him in a way which Kristoff took to mean, “oh please help me up so I can cheat.”
…which he hadn’t realised he had said in the same gruff high pup voice he had used earlier until it was too late…
He looked at the other girl and smiled sheepishly, “uh…like that…” he held out his hand, “I’m Kristoff.”
Giselle nodded. It seemed as though she was the only one that came from a place where animals spoke words to people, instead of just their animal voices. It wasn't surprising anymore when someone asked. Giselle giggled though when Kristoff said he spoke for the animals. That sounded just delightful!
"A reindeer?" she asked. "Oh, I've never seen a reindeer before." She wondered what Sven must look like. She would have to look it up on a computer once everything got a little more settled. A reindeer sounded like a fun friend to have around. Giselle's attention was quickly redirected to the wolf cubs once again. Prim was gaining on Bjorn. Giselle giggled when Kristoff spoke for the little cub. It did sound like something the cub would say.
Primrose pounced on Bjorn as he was waiting for Kristoff. Then she barked once and tried to chew on Bjorn's ear.
"That seems very appropriate." Giselle smiled and took his hand. "I'm Giselle."
“You’ve never seen a reindeer before?” said Kristoff in disbelief, “well first chance we get we’re going to have rectify that one. I mean reindeer are great, they’re the best, especially Sven. I mean I would even go so far as to say that I think that Reindeer are better than people.”
All too late he realised that sounded a bit rude given that he was currently speaking to a ‘people’. He quickly looked apologetic and said, “Not that, people aren’t nice, you seem very nice, I just, uh…I just…really like reindeer…”
That sounded even worse.
Bjorn let out a ‘yip’ when Primrose pounced on him and tried to back away when she started pulling on his ear. He looked up at Kristoff again, but seeing no more help there he decided to fight fire with fire, and started trying to nip at Primrose’s wagging tail.
“Kristoff,” said Kristoff shaking her hand, “wait…I already said that…Hi Giselle…it’s nice to meet you.”
What was it with redheads making him talk and act like a total idiot?
Giselle giggled again. Reindeers sounded so interesting! Especially if Kristoff preferred them people. "Oh, I generally like animals better than people too," she told him with a smile. "They're easier to understand than people, aren't they?" For the most part Giselle thought that people were complicated and too complex for her. There were, of course, exceptions to this rule. Like Bartok. She liked Bartok a lot more than most other people.
Primrose let go of Bjorn's ear when he started going after her tail. She bounced back a few steps and barked at him. Then she dashed away, an obvious invitation to chase her.
Giselle giggled again. "It's nice to meet you too!" she chirped in reply. "There aren't as many people here who like animals as much as I do, but you might be close!"
He was relieved when she indicated that she preferred animals to people and nodded in agreement, “They definitely are, I mean I understand Sven perfectly, but Queen Elsa and Princess Anna…not so much, although I definitely understand Anna better than Elsa because Anna pretty much says whatever comes into her head, but Elsa…she’s so hard to read…and icy…which is strange because I understand Ice, I’m all about the ice.”
It didn’t occur to him that the girl might not know who Elsa and Anna were until after he had finished his rant and then sheepishly added, “uh…I’m the uh…royal ice deliverer back home, I…work for the Queen and Princess.”
Bjorn barked back at Primorse and gave chase, clearly happier now that the tables had turned and he was now the chaser.
“Well it’s great to meet another Animal lover, is…is that what you do here? Look after the animals?”
Giselle nodded along as Kristoff spoke. She didn't know who he was talking about. She hadn't met anyone named Anna or Elsa yet, but that didn't mean that they weren't here. And maybe they would nice. She hoped so. "Oh, people can be hard to read sometimes. Not everyone likes to sing about their feelings or be open about what they're feeling. It's tough."
Giselle's eyes widened at the confession. "Oh my, that sounds like an important job. Do you just deliver ice? What do you do in the summer when there is no ice?"
Primrose barrelled into Giselle's legs, nearly knocking the redhead over. Then she dashed away in the other direction, giving a little yip.
Giselle stumbled a bit, but regained her footing quickly. "Watch where you're going please," she scolded the cubs, then looked back up at Kristoff. "Oh no. I'm a student here. At least, I was a student here. I suppose I could probably pick up where I left off though."
“Did you just say ‘sing about your feelings’,” asked Kristoff, “I mean Anna and Elsa pretty much sing all the time…you should probably meet them, I think you might get along.”
He smiled, straightening himself up a bit and said, “well it’s a fairly important job. I mean Ice is great for many things, keeping your drinks cold, sculptures, but most importantly, for making sure your food stays chilled through the summer months. Although, I suppose if it got really hot in summer then Elsa could just ice everything up again…then I’d sort of be out of a job…”
Like when he first met Anna…life was hard for an ice deliverer when you lived in a place with an ice queen.
He laughed as the wolf cubs went barrelling into Giselle’s leg and Bjorn looked up at her and gave her an apologetic look before continuing on chasing Primrose.
“A student? Oh right! This is a school, cool,” he said with a smile, “What were you studying?”
Giselle clapped her hands together. "Oh I just love singing. It would do much fun to have other friends that like to sing. Do you like to sing?"
Giselle listened with wide eyes. That sounded very important. She wondered if there was an ice deliverer in Andolasia. "That sounds like a very important job."
Primrose barked once in Giselle's direction but kept on running.
Giselle nodded. "I was studying liberal arts. I don't know what means but I guess it's just general. I didn't pick anything specific."
