I'm looking for someone. How we met is secret. You let me borrow your gloves. How can I find you?
Eddie had been seeing the posters around the school all day without paying attention to them, assuming it was some party or sports thing that he'd neither be interested in nor welcome at, until the fates apparently decided to intervene. In a typical display of Eddie clumsiness, he stepped on his untied shoelace at the bottom of the stairs and went crashing to the ground - right where one of the posters had fallen to the floor, leaving it right in front of his face.
Dazed and waiting for the pain in his knees to subside, he read the words in front of him - and suddenly the pain was gone, he shoved himself to his feet excitedly, grabbing the paper and staring at it, reading it again and again.
She was looking for him!?? This sort of thing never happened to him! He waved the paper in the air triumphantly, taking off at a run to go and find Gaston and show him, only to trip once again on his lace and go careening into a wall. He managed, despite his excitement, to stop and tie up his laces, but it was difficult to do given that he didn't want to let go of the poster, and he kept shooting it happy little glances as if it was about to disappear any minute.
"I can't believe she wants to find me, me!" he muttered to himself as he worked "I didn't completely mess up and she actually wants to find me! Maybe she just really wants those lessons... but still, me!"

Nancy might have cheated a little bit in her attempts to make it to class on time, turning into a cheetah to sprint her way towards the school, shifting back into a human just so she wouldn't scare the daylights out of everyone (...or would she? Was that really going to be the breaking point for anyone at this school at this point?) as she walked in...only to catch sight of someone who had fallen to the floor.
Well even if her 70 mph run here hadn't bought her a little extra time, she still would've gone over towards the poor guy. "Oh gods, do you need any help there? I could take whatever that is, help you free up your hands?" Although it didn't take her long to realize he seemed strangely happy for someone who had managed to fall over himself twice. She picked up on something about a girl wanting to find him...and she tilted her head towards the paper, reading the poster...ohhh. Sounded like whoever this girl was, he had met her, and they somehow managed to not exchange information (she supposed that's what happened when you had people from ALL sorts of different time periods; the magic of modern technology was lost on them), so now this was a rather unusual attempt to reconnect.
It all sounded really romantic, and she was really tempted to offer her help, but how could she?
She glanced back towards the boy. "Well that's really sweet...but seriously, are you sure you're okay?"

"Oh, could you? That would be great." Eddie grinned, shoving the paper into her hand so he could finish up and actually manage to get himself to his feet. He bounced up fairly easily, which was one thing he was good at, he supposed, he'd fallen over so often that it just didn't really bother him anymore, and at least there hadn't been any mud or brambles involved this time, which was a very distinct danger back at home.
"Isn't it?" he beamed, holding his hand out to take the poster back "I can't believe she's looking for me! I... I don't know who she is or actually how to find her from the poster but she's looking for me! It's easier to find out who put up the posters than who I gave my gloves to at the- at the..uh.. place where I met her." he realised he hadn't actually answered her question and hurriedly added "and I'm fine, it's okay, I fall over all the time. Thank you though, most people just ignore it, or laugh at me."

She shot him a smile as she accepted the paper, getting a closer look in hopes of maybe finding some more clues. Like, finding that it was written in familiar handwriting or something. She wasn't really sure what else could have hinted towards who it could be...but no, no sort of hint of how to find him. Good gods, didn't this girl think to at least leave her name or something? She could understand this happening once, but twice?
She glanced over at the boy, who was still grinning despite this not giving them very many leads, so she set her questions to the side. It was cute, honestly, how giddy he was. She knew the feeling...had in fact been feeling that feeling just moments ago...her thoughts briefly wandered to that lightsaber fight that somehow gave birth to a threatening crush...but no, focus, Nancy.
"Oh I'm not that type of person and I tend to question people who are...but anyway, um...maybe if you write back? Like, make your own poster? And maybe put your name on it if you're not too embarrassed, because that'll make it a lot more likely she can eventually find you."

Eddie's eyes widened at the suggestion, it was such a good idea! "That's great! I'll put it up and then she'll see it and be able to find me and-" his face fell in a split second as her words fully sank in. If you're not too embarrassed. It probably was a pretty embarrassing thing to do. He thought it was amazing that the girl he'd met at the rink had done it, she was so brave and clever and pretty and nice, and people probably wouldn't tease her for it because she was so sweet why would anyone want to tease her? But him? If Mordred didn't mock him for it, Richard would, and Gaston would probably think it was a bit desperate... although Gaston was usually pretty supportive even when he made really stupid decisions, so maybe he'd be on his side. Still, the others wouldn't be, and Gwyn would probably get really annoyed that he was embarrassing her by association.
"I'd probably just get laughed at," he muttered, staring at the ground "They'd be like "are you imagining you got to talk to a girl again?" or "Eddie who would want to find you?"

The moment his smile fell from his face was a moment she recognized far too well, simply because she had those moments too. Where you realize something you want to do might be way too awkward for you to bear it. Her heartbeat seemed to sting with sympathy, especially once he started going on about how others would give him a hard time for it, which was just so not cool. And it was especially not right that people like them were often thwarted by what other people might think when all they wanted was...
Wait a second, did he just say his name was Eddie?
"Well clearly someone would...and honestly, that's just not nice and...out of curiosity are you friends with a Gaston Jr.? I think he mentioned an Eddie."
In fact she knew he had. Because he had tried to set her up with him. But if he already clearly liked whoever was writing those posters, she had an out! And she could let Gaston know she gave him a chance, but he was interested in someone else, and honestly she was more interested in someone else too...someone like him...
It really went to show, helping others often helped you too.

"Yea I guess, but I-" he started, then realised what she'd said and perked up immediately "Yea! Gaston's my best friend in the whole world, he is the Han to my Chewie, we are like that," he held up crossed fingers "did he mention me? What did he say? I hope it wasn't bad... I mean not that I think Gaston would say anything bad about me, but I'm kind of rubbish at a lot of things so that's probably why I came up. Why were you with Gaston? Are you friends?" he gasped "Are you dating? Did Gaston get a girlfriend without telling me? I bet he'd totally like you as well, you're so pretty and nice."
He managed to stop himself before he said anymore and looked embarrassed "Sorry, I get a bit carried away sometimes..."

She lit up when her suspicions were confirmed, and in probably the cutest way possible. She could definitely see what Gaston had meant, but...well, in spite of herself, she had already kind of made a connection, hadn't she?
"Oh no, he had nothing but nice things to say about you..." And then when he asked if they were dating, she honestly had to laugh. This was the kind of irony that she couldn't WAIT to tell her mother had happened to her, Mom would absolutely get a kick out of every single part of this, she was sure.
"That's really nice of you to say...but no, we're not dating..." And...well, clearly Eddie would get this sort of thing, wouldn't he? "But...I'd really like to, to be honest, but I chickened out because...you're probably gonna laugh at this, considering you thought we were, but he actually wanted to set me up with you...but you clearly like Mystery Girl, and I honestly want to help you out there, because this?" She waved the poster. "Is too romantic to not pursue." And maybe the same goes for an impromptu lightsaber battle between nerds where eyes locked QUITE a few times...

Eddie's eyes got wider and wider while she explained the situation, and for a moment it looked as though he were going to explode.
"Oh...my...god.." he said slowly, letting out his breath all at once "So, so, he was trying to wingman me, which he does like all the time because I'm really rubbish with girls and that's really great of him, but you like him? And you want to ask him out? Oh, wow, this is amazing, I get to wingman him!! He's great, you should definitely ask him out. Does it count as being a wingman when the girl already likes the person? I don't know, but whatever... do you really think it's romantic? I don't know if she was interested in me like that, we only met the once, but she was very pretty. Not that you aren't, you are, but that's so cool that you like Gaston, you should definitely go out with him!"

She couldn't help but giggle when she saw the look on his face, and saw just how enthusiastic he was about this whole thing. This had to be the best coincidence that ever happened to her. "Yeah, that's basically what happened, yeah...but I'm sure you're not rubbish with girls. I mean, we're talking just fine, aren't we? Even if it's not in that way, that's got to count for something, right? And well, I think it does, because I have no idea how he feels about me, you know? Like, if he was trying to set me up with you, you'd think that meant he wasn't interested, but we had some moments while we were having a lightsaber battle that felt like we just...clicked."
And she almost couldn't believe it herself, but she let out a sigh as she thought of it. "I don't know what to do, to be honest, so I'm REALLY glad I met you, Eddie...because it looks like we can help each other out. And as for whether or not Mystery Girl likes you?" Here she raised an eyebrow, one of the few moments you could really see her resemblance to her mother. "Trust me on this, if a girl's going to this trouble to try and find you? She likes you. I can't imagine why else she'd be doing this."
And then the thought occurred to her. "Oh! So we don't wind up in a similar situation as you two, though, my name's Nancy, Nancy Panic...and this looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

"A lightsabre battle?" he repeated, eyes wide and amazed "You're perfect! For him I mean. Not that I don't like Star Wars because I love Star Wars but Gaston really loves Star Wars, and if you like it too that's so perfect." he couldn't believe Gaston had met this amazing girl who liked the same thing he did and immediately thought of Eddie, he really did have the best friend in the world, and Eddie was going to repay him by getting him a date with Nancy.
"You really think so?" he perked up even more "I hope you're right! And yea, I'm really glad we met too, because if we can help each other that would be really awesome."
"Eddie Locksley," he introduced himself, even though she already knew, and stuck out his hand to shake just like he'd always been taught to do "I think it is as well."
((That feels like a nice place to wrap it up if you like? Or we can continue))

Nancy felt the heat rise in her cheeks, but her smile remained on, so hopefully no one could take her blushing as a bad thing. Gods, she hoped that he was right...she hoped that she had misread the situation and Gaston really WOULD like her that way. "Thank you, really...and I really think so. I'd be shocked if that wasn't what it meant." She shook his hand, her face practically splitting from how hard she was smiling.
And then her phone vibrated, almost angrier than the last time, and her eyes widened. "Oh gods, I'm going to be late!" Thinking fast, she grabbed a pen out from her pocket and scribbled her name and number on the back of the poster, handing it over to Eddie. "We'll talk more! Gotta go! Thanks again!" Sure, it was probably a bit early to say thank you for his help with Gaston Jr., but honestly, he had been so enthusiastic and sweet about the whole thing, why not?
While shifting into a cheetah was probably ill advised...she supposed a hummingbird wouldn't be something everyone would object to, right? So with a slight jump in her step, she shifted into a hummingbird, hoping the extra speed would make up for how much smaller she was now, and get her to class.
