His smirk grew and he raised an eyebrow at her mention of his physical prowess, biting his tongue to stop him from commenting something along the lines of 'yeah I have...'; he had a feeling now really wasn't the moment, and he was learning. He was definitely a better man than he had been ten years ago, he thought to himself proudly, and he knew he'd be able to complete whatever task she set him, quickly, easily, and with flare and style that only he would be capable of.
His breathing becoming slightly heavier as she moved closer to him, his head was full of thoughts of how she might want to congratulate him once he passed her test, and he grinned a little lasciviously down at her, fighting his impulse hard in order to keep his hands at his side. This was going to be easy, just simple and ...
Wait, what?
The smile disappeared, the eyebrows dropped, and he stared at her as her words finally registered and he understood what his task was actually going to be. "Gwen... what? That's not a test, that's..." he struggled to express what that was. Impossible, was the only word that sprang to mind, and he waved his hand in circles as he tried to think of something a little less defeatist, but still express how completely ridiculous that test was. If he'd been set this test back home it would have been easy - he could think of a hundred women who had nothing but good things to say about him, but here? Women here were different. Women here were intelligent, and intelligent woman did not like Gaston. Well, apart from Gwen herself, but she was an exception, and even Gaston had moments of wondering what she actually saw in him. They didn't last long, granted, but they were there nonetheless.
"Can't I just kill a dragon or something?" He asked plaintively, a distinct whining tone in his voice and a pleading look on his face. "Who am I going to ask, the woman who wants me dead for stabbing her best friend? The one who revived said friend? Or, oh, I know, I'll just ask Merlin to change into a woman for a couple of days, I'm sure he'd have tonnes of good things to say about me." He pouted a little as he looked at her, reaching out and stroking her cheek gently as his voice softened. "Can't I just go fight something instead?"
