Personality: Elsa spent the majority of her life, up until her coronation, being closeted, in so very many ways. Due to her special abilities, she wasn't allowed out of her room, let alone the castle or into the world at large. Perhaps because of this, Elsa grew up guarded, keeping her thoughts and emotions to herself and thinking logically about situations. Surprisingly she became fairly adept at reading people, if only to make sure that she could keep her distance if need be. So while her sister trusts easily and is bubbly, Elsa distrusts nearly everyone and is almost coolly detached.
Thanks to her sudden... coming out, Elsa has become a little more outgoing and tried to show some of her personality and being. she's learned to express her creativity through ice sculptures and song, though it's still very much something she tries to keep quiet. At least she's gotten over the whole talking thing and dealing with people. Lately she's taken a special interest in learning how to master her natural abilities, both the ice and her own skills.
Still, Elsa remains almost painfully pragmatic. She does not believe in love at first. She thinks people should think first and jump second. and she's a constant bastion of good, solid, almost homespun advice. In a world filled with magic and wonder, Elsa's the one who points out that trolls are singing, that you can't marry someone you just met, and that if someone's named "Weaselton" you probably shouldn't trust them.
Appearance: Elsa is icily beautiful. Get it?
Seriously though, she's lanky and rather on the tall side, almost hitting six feet. Her skin is supernaturally pale due to her powers, which give her a very icy look throughout. Her skin is always cold, which doesn't bother her anyway, but seems to bother other people. Her hair is a pale blonde, though she's thought about tweaking and styling it more now that she's in a new world (or she will soon enough).
Elsa prefer feminine clothing, but in a subtle manner. She's likely to wear something that combines flowing and fitting. Seeing her in jeans is almost unexpected, though she does still like practicality. Not that she objects to trousers on women...
History: Elsa grew up isolated due to her powers. At first she learned to revel in the joys of creation with her sister, and she lived a loving life with parents and all that good stuff. But an accident gave her sister a warning and made Elsa wary. Elsa had to withdraw, even as her sister's constant calls to play with snowman tore at her insides (there's definitely some leftover trauma there).
Her coronation came, and Elsa was utterly terrified. She'd never been out in public, and her powers were just barely in check. Anna's natural cheer did warm her some, and she was initially glad to interact with her beloved sister... right up until Anna decided she was in love with a stranger. This set aside a catastrophic chain of events that sort of ended with Elsa enacting an "eternal winter" on the land of Arendelle.
And no, Elsa won't just "Let that go."
Elsa was enjoying her isolation and expression. She got captured, then got saved by love expressed through her sister and sort of extended through a young man named Kristoff that she supposed she liked. They won; people were jailed, etc. Cue happy ending.
The relationship between Kristoff and Anna made Elsa wonder though: could something like that exist for her? Were there other royals out there and other magic? She knew she'd have to look at some point, and she'd heard tales regarding a school that could help with this. She heard tale of portals, but just as she heard about them, she got the news that her sister had gone missing.
Other: tell her to "let it go", just try it.

The tower was ice now. Ice clung to walls, everything shimmered with cold. It didn't bother Elsa; her breath didn't even make puffs. She took deep breaths, trying to calm herself. Fingers ran through her hair, disturbing locks as she glanced toward the guard, who was trying not to panic. "It's fine," Elsa said, keeping her voice even. "Just an instinctive reaction," Elsa flicked her fingers, sending a few more snowflakes spiraling. She'd hoped for this, all but prayed for it, and Anna had just been so excited to go run off and check. Now she'd disappeared? Elsa thought her reaction was rather subdued, all things considered.
Elsa spun her hands, and a cloak settled on her shoulders. She paused to stare at the messenger. "Spread word that the royal family is taking leave for educational purposes," she decreed, her voice even. "There will be an administrative council in place to handle things in our absence, and we shall return with more knowledge." The messenger sputtered, but Elsa flicked her hand, moving.
"This time, I'll be the one doing the saving," she said, exiting the tower. She thought she caught sight of a reindeer in the near distance, and a large, goofy man nearby. "Kristoff!" she called, all but gliding forward. "Hold on: this rescue party's going to involve the other sister this time."
