Personality:
”I’m a complex guy, sweetheart.” That quote about sums it up in the least descriptive way possible. Dimitri is a ball of contradictions, but when one plays different roles their entire life, eventually they tend to lose sight of who they really are.
He’s sarcastic, witty, and tries to keep most interactions light. He has a bit of a dark past, one he doesn’t like to talk about though he’s not particularly ashamed of it. He did what had to be done at the time to survive, though it has left him with quite the inferiority complex. He doesn’t feel he deserves good things, though if he wants something bad enough he’s willing to change to at least give the appearance of deserving it.
He holds a long resentment toward royals, though it has faded over his time at Avalon. He rarely drinks, preferring to stay in complete control of all his faculties. When it comes to stress release he prefers to run or shoot a few hoops. He likes to plan things out, though he can also think quickly on his feet.
Although he can be charming, suave, and heroic, he’s forever getting himself injured, and can easily be disarmed by a pretty woman. He swears the fates have it out for him as nothing ever seems to go his way, and any time things start to look up life always kicks him down again.
Appearance:
At first glance, the best way to sum up Dimitri’s appearance is ‘average’. He is of average height and build, with brown hair, brown eyes and tan skin. His nose is his most distinguishing feature, having been broken in his younger years.
Despite this, there's something quite devilishly handsome about him. He's very comfortable in his own skin, confident (or at least good at feigning confidence), and quite fun to be around when he's not brooding. His clothes are nothing special, usually leaning towards dark slacks or jeans, button up shirts or tees. His hair is usually a bit unruly, and he often goes a few days without shaving, but that only adds to the appeal.
History:
Dimitri worked as a servant for the Romanov family in Saint Petersburg until the palace was invaded and most of the family and those within were killed, including his mother. Taking to the streets, he survived as a pickpocket until being taken in by an older conman named Vladimir.
Raising the child, Vladimir taught Dimitri all he knew about scams and thievery, and the boy was a natural. He was smooth, charming and handsome and excelled in his new lot in life until it was time for that one big scam, the one that would set them up for life: they were going to find someone who they could pass off as a grown Anastasia Romanov and collect the substantial reward.
As luck would have it they found the perfect girl... only she turned out to actually be the real Anastasia. When offered the reward, though, Dimitri turned it down because, as his luck would have it, he had fallen for her. Knowing he could never fit into her life of luxury he walked away.
Falling back into his old routine, he and Vlad forged some papers and got him enrolled in Avalon where he planned to con some unsuspecting rich folk and make their big fortune. What he never expected, though, was to find Anya already there. She believed he had taken the reward, and he didn’t set her straight, knowing it could never work between them. After much fighting and denying their feelings, though, he finally came clean and they decided to take a chance. It was rough going, but they managed to make it (mostly) work until Anya got word that her grandmother was ill and returned home. Left to his own devices, Dimitri held down a job as a bartender and basically killed time, waiting.
That's when things got especially weird in an already weird history. See, eventually Anya returned, but it wasn't his Anya. It was Anya from another universe, one where they had never met. That was a heavy blow, and he did everything he could to find a way to get his Anya back, though unable to deny the attraction to this new one, one so much like she was when he had eventually fallen for her and before all the heartache and nastiness.
Eventually he got word from his Anya, but it came in the form of a Dear John letter. She had taken her rightful role as the Grand Duchess Anastasia and moved on. He had been right all along, it could never work between them.
Heartbroken he pushed the other Anya away, finding it too painful to be around her. Then.. the war came. He spoke out against it, and when it came down to it he abandoned Trenale and joined the enemy, the clearly winning side... at least that's what he had everyone believe. With his reputation and very vocal distaste for the Grayle corporation, it was easy to convince the invaders that he hated Tintagel and wanted to see it fall, but secretly he was planning to infiltrate enemy lines, earn the trust of the general, and tear them down from the inside. It was all very carefully planned, and culminated in the most traitorous act: poisoning Arthur Pendragon and delivering him to the enemy.
Unfortunately, for Dimitri at least, it was after this, but before he could enact his heroic plan, that Trenale decided to protect itself and end the war, sending everyone back where they had come from.
Dimitri was returned to Paris, and it wasn't long before he received an invitation to the royal palace. An invitation from his Anya. It was strange, so much time spend crying over her, and the meeting wasn't as painful as he expected. She was pleasant, he was cordial, and they ended on friendly enough terms and him with an open invitation to visit her. An invitation he knew he would never use. In the end she wasn't his Anya anymore. She was royalty, and him just the lowly kitchen boy turned con man.
Not long after he returned to St. Petersburg. He worked odd jobs, and still did a bit of conning and hustling on the side. It wasn't an exciting life, but anything felt dull after the excitement of Avalon.
Four years later, a portal opened and pulled him back in.

TELLtheTALE
Sample Post:
Some days he didn't think about Avalon. As time wore on, there were actually days that it barely crossed his mind. Sure, those days were fewer in number than the ones that did, but considering everything he had gone through in his years at that school it was surprising he could go an hour without thinking about it let alone a day.
Most days, though, he did, and a lot of those memories were good ones. Thought about Arthur and Gwen, and wondered if they were ruling their combined lands happily together. They had at least one child, that he knew, unless something had happened since the last time he'd seen Gwen. He thought about Alan and Mulan, two of the closest friends he'd ever had. They had left Avalon long before the war, even before Tintagel if he remembered right. He didn't always. He thought about Robin and Marian, and their little baby boy, and, yes, he thought about Anya, the one he had never told the truth to and who hated his guts. What had happened to her when the portals had sent them all back? Had she ever found her family? He could have helped her, could have told her everything she needed to know if he hadn't been so caught up in himself.
Sometimes, though, it was hard to escape the dark thoughts that would always plague him. Everything had ended so abruptly, and before he could carry out his plan. Everything had ended with all the people he had come to care about hating him and thinking him a traitor. It shouldn't matter anymore, he would never see any of them ever again, yet it did. It mattered, it haunted him. Four years later it still haunted him.
But he carried on, it was what he always did. He cheated at cards and charmed the overly rich out of their extra pocket change, and he made new friends, had new relationships. Everything, though, seemed to pale in comparison to that time in the land of magic and fairytales.
