personailty: Uther is seen by many to be cold and heartless, but this is far from the truth. He has the weight of an entire Kingdom upon his shoulders and often has to make difficult decisions that many don’t agree with. He always does what he feel is right, rarely letting his emotions cloud his judgement except when it comes to Arthur, his only son.

He is haunted by the past and the one single event that changed his life. He despises magic above all else and believes no good can come of it, and that all who practice it have evil in their hearts. He is brave, protective and loyal to those who are loyal to him. Uther is not a man to be crossed.
appearance: Intimidating and regal are the first words that come to mind. Standing at 6’-1” tall, Uther has the appearance of a man who has seen many hardships, but who has overcome them all, no matter what the cost. His blue eyes are hard, his skin lined and weathered, and he has a long, thin scar running from his right brow to his hairline. He is quite physically fit for a man of his age, but it is more his countenance than his actual physical bearing that makes him so intimidating.

Uther wears the clothes befitting a king. The finest materials, rich leather boots and gloves, and long, heavy cloaks. Upon his head is normally a crown of gold, and around his neck an intricate amulet.
history: Uther was born the youngest of three sons, and learned of loss and heartache at a young age. His father, King Constantine, was assassinated while Uther was still a boy and the King was succeeded by his oldest son, Constans. Unfortunately his reign was short lived, and he was betrayed and murdered by his advisor, Vortigern, who seized the throne when Uther and his remaining brother, Ambrosius, fled the kingdom.

Raised by his cousin, Uther grew into a strapping young man, and it wasn’t long before he and his brother returned home and fought the traitor. With Vortigern defeated, Ambrosius took the throne with Uther as his most loyal ally. Eventually Ambrosius passed as well and Uther became king.

Early into his reign Uther met Ingraine and fell instantly in love. Unfortunately she was unhappily wed to Gorlois, a cruel and jealous tyrant. Seeing the way Uther looked at his wife, and thinking to use it to his advantage, Gorlois challenged him to a duel although his secret reasoning was to seize the throne. Despite his trickery, Uther triumphed and later married Ingraine. The two were very happy and very much in love, but it was not enough as Ingraine was discovered to be barren. Wishing above all else for a son to carry on his name, Uther sought the advice of the royal physician, Gaius, and the help of a sorcerous, Nimeuh. With the help of magic, Arthur was conceived, but none were aware that there was a price to pay. The balance of the world had to be retained, and for a life to be created, another must be taken. Ingraine died in childbirth.

Enraged and heartbroken, Uther waged war on magic, banishing and even murdering anyone he learned was practicing the dark arts. This reign of terror would continue for the next twenty years, until he mistakenly sent his only son, Arthur, and his wards, Morgana and Kay, to a school that was practically drowning in magic...
