Personality: Hercules is kind, optimistic, determined, stubborn, and desires to fit in more than anything else. Having been ostracized his whole life, he knows what it feels like to be an outsider, so he particularly looks out for those who are being bullied. He’s been told more than once that he has a hard head—he never did learn when to back away from a problem in order to find a new solution. He prefers brute force as a solution, since he’s already pretty good at that, but hasn’t quite learned how to delicately approach a situation or be diplomatic. He is eager to help and always believes he can do well, despite all evidence to the contrary. Since he discovered his true identity, though, he’s become even more hopeful that he will someday find where he truly belongs.
Appearance:The two words that first come to mind when looking at Hercules are scrawny and pitiful. His hair is too long and keeps falling in his face, his head is too big for his body, his arms and legs appear to go on twice as long as they should, and he’s always wearing a doofy grin that looks a little like a lost puppy hoping to be loved and played with. He has super strength, but he doesn’t have any muscles to go with it. He’s getting pretty tall—6’ tall and on the rise—but is still rail thin. And to top everything of, his teeth are crooked.
History: Born to Hera and Zeus, lost at birth and made mortal to prevent disrupting Hades’ plots in the future, yada yada yada. Hercules was raised by two farmers on the edge of Mount Olympus, and he loves his parents deeply. He had a couple friends when he was younger, but after a few too many injuries and a lot of jealousy involving lifting houses, both parents and children decided it was best that all friendships go on hold. There were also a couple girls in town that Hercules always liked to sigh after, but based on what his dad told him about the birds and the bees he’s basically given up on having a real relationship. He was mostly satisfied helping his parents around the house, but after a particularly embarrassing incident in the marketplace (which ended in a distinct lack of marketplace), Hercules revealed his desire to find a place where he fit in. That evening he found out about his true parentage, and he journeyed to one of Zeus’ many temples to get some advice. Then this statue came to life and gave him a quest and a flying horse, and before Hercules could say “neigh” he was flying through the clouds and on toward his quest…or so he thought. He flew into a cloud on one side, and when he emerged on the other he was above some sort of forest with all sorts of strange buildings and people swarming about. Hercules hurriedly told Pegasus to land so they could find someone to ask what in the world just happened and where in Zeus’ name they had ended up.
Other: Dreams do come true. Is this a far off place, where a great warm welcome will be waiting for young Herc and his Pentabulous writer?
TELLtheTALE
Sample Post: "No, not my unicorn, Pegasus." Hercules gestured behind him at the beast. "So, do you want to go for a ride?"
He wasn't quite sure how this whole flirting thing worked, but he still had a feeling something was going over his head. Girls in this new world were so strange, and they wore the weirdest clothing. It had taken a lot of prodding to get him into something other than a tunic.
It looked like the girl was losing interest. Quickly, Hercules threw his arms up, trying to get her attention. "Look what I can do!" he shouted, looking around for the nearest large object. He ran over to a fairly large boulder and picked it up, trying to balance it on one finger like he had seen some people do with balls. "Woah," he said, trying to get it balanced, but it kept almost falling off. "No, wait, I got this!" he said, trying to keep his eye on both the girl and the rock, but soon he found himself on the ground holding the rock on his chest.
"I can do better!" he shouted to the girl as she walked away. Frowning, he shoved the rock off and hit the ground, making a small pile of dust rise from the path. "I don't think this is what Zeus meant about training at all."
