Artemis wasn't sure if it was the loneliness she was suddenly experiencing, or if it was sheer boredom. But for the past few days, she really felt like there needed to be more for her. More than just Tintagel Academy, and hunting. Sure, it was who she was, Artemis, the Goddess of the Hunt. Everyone knew that. Everyone who's ever spoken with her, anyway. But she needed...closure, of some sort. Closure that didn't involve a drink and a one-night stand with a handsome stranger.
Closure that involved her brother and twin. She truly missed Apollo. So much, in fact, that she was willing to go begging on her knees for forgiveness from him. She needed to know she was forgiven. What she did was absolutely abominable and she regretted it, every single second of it. If she could go back in time, she would not have given in. If there was a way to get her virginity back, she would find that way, be it by magic or by other means. She just wanted her brother back.
The thrill of the hunt tended to come and go as it pleased with Artemis. Her companions, of course, were dear to her, but even they could not provide her the comfort she desired. The poor dears probably didn't even know what was wrong with Artemis. At least they knew the goddess would never, under any circumstances, abandon them.
Also, Hermes was quite possibly planning her slow and painful...un-death right this second. Hadn't he had beef with Apollo before? It was quite amusing how the revenge went from one twin to the other. So, the only other way for Artemis to release this bottled up...whatever she was feeling, would be to shoot arrows at something, one after another, like at a marathon of shooting arrows. Her pent-up angry, remorse, longing, everything. Letting it out was good. Better than exploding the nearest human or something.
Actually, the nearest human looked an awful lot like..."Apollo?" ...had she just said that aloud? Great.
