Dite had tucked herself into the corner of the on-campus café, feet propped on the windowsill and nose buried in a book. She'd heard a good deal about these Twilight novels, and decided to see for herself what they were like. They were garbage, of course, designed for the insecure young woman, but she couldn't put it down. Rather like a trainwreck, really; horrid, but you can't make yourself stop watching. Now, really, she of all people understood the appeal of a pretty face, but this Edward person seemed more like an abusive creep than a loving partner. She certainly wouldn't allow her daughters to hang around a boy like that.
Shaking her head, and unable to resist thinking that a headboard would be the least of the damage if she ever got a hold of such a creature, she set the book aside, taking to staring out the window. People watching had also become a habit of hers since her arrival here. These mortals were so very interesting. And chose the most peculiar clothing. Really, skin-tight yellow trousers with that horrid paisley nonsense from the neck down? It was as if they dressed themselves in the dark. But,she supposed if it made them happy, all the more entertainment for her. Chuckling to herself, she shook her head again and sipped her coffee slowly. Yes, this really was a good idea, coming here. She hadn't been so amused since Paris and the golden apple.
God, was school infuriating! Why in the world did Apollo have to make himself so human in his human form? Why, oh why? And why did they have to be twins? Because, if they weren't, Artemis would never in a million years have made herself be twenty. People were above her, who shouldn't even be above her. Correction:gods. Hermes was her professor. How screwed up can that be? And to top that, it was like he purposely assigned more studying than necessary! Artemis sighed, deciding that getting worked up this early in the morning was not worth her time. Besides, there were far more better things to think of. Like...hunting out in the woods once it got dark.
Curse the cold, because Artemis was freezing even in her heavy wool coat, hat, scarf, and gloves. Therefore, a nice warm cup of coffee over at the cafe was always a good idea any time of the day when the weather was like this. As she was waiting for the coffee, she couldn't help but look around at the people there. There were a couple of humans she recognized from her classes, and even a professor or two. Artemis did a double take. Or two. Definitely or two. Aphrodite was settled in a corner reading Zeus knows what, and normally Artemis wouldn't even second glance that. But...she felt the sudden urge to go say hello. It wasn't that her sister was her enemy, because she wasn't. Artemis just didn't necessarily have a fondess for Dite, that's all. "Hello, Dite," she greeted, forcing a smile as she walked over there with a coffee cradled in her hands to warm them up. "How are you? What book is that?" She couldn't help it. She was curious by nature. Literally.
