Rip had never shared a room with anyone before, let alone strangers. She didn't really mind though - she kept to herself and was usually out doing something far more interesting than getting into pillow fights and painting toenails or whatever else it was that girls did with one another.
The room was empty at the moment; it was appeared that no one had been there at all, as a matter of fact. Rip didn't care much about where she was lying and picked a bed completely at whim. She threw down her pack and the few things that were in her hand on the bed before starting to look around.
The only thing she had that couldn't fit into her bag was her newly acquired epee, a dueling sword for fencing, and some other fencing equipment. The epee was the heaviest of the swords and the most destructive; it could be used on the entire body rather than just the torso and left some decent bruises. She had picked up the goodies in one of the shops around town, complete with a bag big enough for both her helmet and the epee.
Rip opened the bag to check that everything was okay before sliding it off the bed. She opened her proper pack and began to unload it.
Artemis hadn't bothered with the unpacking thing, she'd just found out where her room was and furnished it with little more than a thought, she was a goddess after all, and she had such a flighty character that there were few things she kept and carried with her - apart from her silver bow, and that usually occupied a space that wasn't quite of this world anyway, so all she really needed was the essentials, and it was easier to imagine them into existance than it was to go out and do all that shopping nonsense.
She hadn't even spent that much time in the room since she got there, being an outdoorsy person in general and a night person in particular, her current personality led her enjoying the wild as much as she could, but today it had been raining and she had decided to give the wild a break, and let it get wet and cold on its own.
She had been lying on her bed and staring aimlessly at the ceiling, letting her mind wander as she enjoyed the quiet, when said quiet was interrupted. She sat up, watching the girl for a moment before speaking almost accusingly.
Rip had barely recognized that there was another person in the room before the movement finally registered and she saw that there was another woman in the room.
She was rarely struck by the beauty of anything but this woman was a sight to behold. Rip had seen lovely women, had been with a few of them actually, but she had never seen someone like this woman. She seemed to glow in a way, to be somehow beyond what Rip was seeing. She was more. It seemed to smack the brunette over the head.
She recovered in time to be slightly put off by the tone of the lovely creature's voice.
"Rip. I live here."
She turned back to the open bag on her bed and started to take out the few clothes she had. She was careful not to put anything heavy on her fencing bag.

"You do? When did that start?" She asked lazily, seeming to relax again but still watching Rip almost like a hunter watches its prey. Which wouldn't be that far off, really, except she didn't intend to kill the other girl. Probably. Then she cast her gaze over what the girl was doing and she nodded slightly, before her eyes returned quickly to Rip.
"I see." She said, answering her own question, at least in her mind. "So what's your name?"
Her tone was still lazily arrogant, like she could be taking issue with the whole situation, but she'd let it pass for now because she was feeling generous, which was essentially how she thought about most things these days. She'd let them happen because she didn't much care - until something made her care, then she'd take action.
Although Rip hadn't been in favor of joining up in a room with others, this actually appeared like it might work out. This girl seemed to have a "I-don't-mess-with-you-you-don't-mess-with-me" sort of vibe and that was the best she could have hoped for. The girl seemed only vaguely interested in what Rip was doing and Rip had the same sort of interest in her.
Yeah, this could maybe work out okay. So long as this attitude was the prevailing one in the room.
She was fairly sure she had said her name before but a lot of people didn't catch it on the first go. It wasn't a typical name. "Rip." The brunette slid her bag under her bed and started unpacking her fencing bag as well. She took out her epee. "And you are?" she asked, not looking up from her sword.
Vaguely, at the back of her mind, Artemis was aware that the girl had already given her name, but she had such a short attention span, not to mention a generalised disinterest in mortals a lot of the time, that she didn't much care. She'd probably forget it again, no doubt.
Drawing herself up a little, this was the part she enjoyed. Testing. Would this mortal know how lucky she was to be in such a presence, or would she, like so many others, fail to realise how insulting her lack of reverence really was? Although, Artemis thought, eyes flicking to the sword the girl was unpacking, perhaps she might forgive it, as she had thought to do before, and recruit Rip as an attendant. She would see.
"I am Artemis." She announced, watching for Rip's reaction.
It was times like this that it would have been good for Rip to generally care about what other people wanted. She was people savvy enough to know that, with the way Artemis made such a grand moment of announcing her name, that she was hoping for a certain response. Were Rip a sweeter or more caring girl, she would have racked her brain to figure out what this girl could possibly be hoping for and tried to give her something resembling the "correct" response. She would have tried her best to make sure that she got off on the right foot with her new roommate.
But, alas, Rip wasn't that type of girl. No, she wasn't the type to care particularly about why this chick thought her name was such a big deal and she was certainly not going to lie to make Artemis feel like she was someone important. Rip simply ran a cloth down her blade before setting it back down on the bed.
"Nice to meet you." This was about as nice as she got. At least, when alcohol wasn't involved.
Rip didn't even turn her attention towards the beautiful creature as she finished her unpacking.
Artemis' face set in annoyance. You'd think she'd be used to that reaction by now, but it wasn't just the lack of a proper greeting, it was the dismissive attitude. It was a pleasant enough reply, for a normal person who wasn't Artemis, but she was Artemis, and now this girl was just ignoring her to complete her unpacking.
Perhaps she wouldn't make her an attendant, that would show her! ...Well, ok, it wouldn't because Rip wouldn't know what she was missing out on, she'd have to let her know first, make her want it and then take it away - unless she proved herself worthy.
"I'm a goddess, you know." She pointed out, her tone a little dangerous.
