Giselle liked to bake. In fact, she was pretty good at baking. But she had had to learn because who else was going to bake? The squirrels? Well that would be quite silly, now wouldn’t it? Yes, Giselle had had to learn to bake mostly on her own because her animals friends, though she loved them dearly, didn’t know how to bake or cook and she couldn’t eat berries and roots and things like that all the time. On occasion that was fine, but not all the time.
But today she was not baking for herself. Oh no, today she was making a birthday cake for her very very best friend Bartok. She had heard it was his birthday and of course she wanted to bake him a cake. Everyone deserved cake on their birthdays. And he was her very very best friend and that was just what very very best friends did for each other.
So Giselle had made a very delicious chocolate cake and frosted it with vanilla icing and had gotten some of that decorative icing and had written out Happy Birthday Bartok on the cake in blue. And around it she had made some balloons because she wasn’t sure if boys really liked flowers on their birthday cakes. Giselle liked flowers on her cake, but she wasn’t sure Bartok would. So balloons it was and in all different colors too.
And when the cake was finally decorated she made her way over to the boy’s dorm and past the security guard, who was so very nice and found Bartok’s room. Then she knocked on the door and waited, cake in hand for her very very best friend to open the door.
