Aphrodite sat in the teacher's lounge between classes, a stack of half-graded papers in her lap. Really, this was absurd. She definitely had her work cut out for her with these kids. Did they live under rocks or something? Beyond the basics, they didn't understand anything! Their parents must be entirely too sheltering. There was simply no excuse for children this age to not have a better grasp of these concepts. Honestly. No, the woman being on top did not ensure against pregnancy. Gravity was an interesting thing, but most certainly not that powerful. Rubbing her temples, she sighed and set the papers aside, shaking her head. Most assuredly time for a break now. Stretching her back out, she stood up and made her way over to the coffee machine, pouring herself a generous cup.
They didn't have this wonderful beverage on Mount Olympus, and Dite was beginning to find that quite the shame. it was a miraculous thing. The jittery feelings that lingered after drinking it weren't always optimal, particularly in class, but it did wonders for her patience level. She'd taken to drinking it quite frequently, coming to need it simply to get through the day. Going back over to the chair she had occupied, she sat down and began to get back to work, glancing up with a minor level of interest as the door swung open. Whoever it was, the distraction would be most welcomed.
You'd think life would get easier after a few million years or so, but no, even a greek god with all the brains in the world can't quite grasp the twisted, confusing road that is life. It was times like these when Hermes was reminded of what a wretched curse immortality was. It had been years and years since he'd last visited May and, quite honestly, he wasn't keen on visiting her any time soon in avoidance of the sheer pain it would surely cause them both. A mortal he had begrudgingly fallen in love with, driven mad by visions of their sons demise. What a cruel trick of fate to have cause him such suffering. Hermes, though generally a level headed man, could not help but feel bitter towards anyone he thought involved. Apollo, his darling flamboyant brother held rule over a certain Oracle of Delphi, the same Oracle's spirit who invaded poor May only to drive her insane. Hades had placed a curse long ago on the spirit. Hermes steamed at his ignorance of this at the time. Last, but certainly not least, Aphrodite. None of this suffering would he have lived should Aphrodite kept his heart safe from the pretty little mortal. He was half convinced she had done it on purpose, vengeful over his successful seductions of her. Perhaps some things should be let go, but then, greek gods weren't exactly known for letting things go.
Hermes had been rather good about everything, or so he thought, since he had arrived at Tintagel. So he may have played a few pranks on Apollo, it wasn't so bad, besides, everyone would assume he was just being himself, not seeking small ways to torture his brother for dark reasons. Everything was going okay, though he had heard of Aphrodite's arrival and a small shiver tickled his spine. Truth be told, he was the tinniest bit afraid of her, especially if what he thought about her being behind him and May to be true. Still, he could avoid her for some time at least, then confront her when he was ready, that is, until he ran into Miss Alice the other day. The woman bared the most horrid resemblance to May that Hermes stood stumbling over himself, struck dumb. It was her, he had thought almost immediately, Aphrodite was cursing him again.
Dressed to the nines, as always, Hermes strode easily down the hall toward the staff room, though he worse a tight expression on his face as he tried to map things out in his clever mind. Ever proficient in lying, he seemed to have fooled everyone around into thinking not a single thing was wrong. even know he instinctively put on a smirk before pushing the door open into the staff room. Though his eyes were far away in thought, they were forced to focus on the woman sitting nearest to him so fast that it nearly gave him a headache. A few of the other teachers in the room must have immediately felt the air in the room thicken given their uncomfortable glances and awkward shifting. He felt a rush of anger that suddenly found itself struggling against the acknowledgment of her breathtaking beauty. After a long moment of conflicting emotion, fear certainly mingling, all he could come up with to say was You're looking.... He looked her up and down, careful to keep his face a mask of indifference well.
