Personality: Levi is, essentially, a knight. He believes strongly in chivalry and behaving in a certain way. This entails treating women with respect, obeying his elders, and following a code of conduct and ethics that many would consider strict, almost unyielding. For those that understand alignments, Levi comes off as Lawful Good. He will follow rules, regulations, and do what it takes to help others and fight for the side of good.
Yet Levi has a temper, one that he struggles with containing. To add further fuel to the fire, he spent several years under a spell. During this time, he believed he was Lancelot du Lac, a knight destined to serve Arthur and sworn to help bridge the gap between the magical society of Avalon and the kingdom of Camelot. With that illusion revealed and dispelled, Levi has a good deal of pent up aggression, and a slight inferiority complex (Lancelot will be remembered in legends, Levain will be little more than a footnote). He tries not to let this influence his decisions, but oftentimes it’s simply too much for him.
Finally, he is in love with Guinevere. He has spent the last year and a day questing to get to Tintagel, not to return to school, not to serve Arthur, but to return to Guinevere and fulfill his promise to be her knight. This does not change his basic ideal of helping those in any way he can, but it does alter his priorities, especially after the revelation of Avalon.
Appearance: Levi is extremely well built. Years of training in martial combat have left him rippling with muscles. Furthermore, he has spent the last year and a day on an epic quest to return to Tintagel. As such, he has the body of someone who has been questing and fighting for an extended period of time. Scars dot his body for various wounds, and there’s a bit of a haunted look to his eyes. None of this really besmirches his overall appearance, as he is still a striking young man. He is not, in fact, as aware of his appearance as many were, as he was enchanted for an extended period of time to look like someone else.
As far as dress goes, he usually dresses in “tough” clothing, a throwback to his tendency toward wearing armor. Thus he prefers tougher jeans and shirts, and will opt for something of a more durable fabric. Quite often he wears a sword, even more often than he used to.
History: Levain is the first son of Bernard of Astolat, thus making him a minor noble of a house that barely matters. His father swore allegiance to Uther, supporting the king in most of his decisions. The family served the kingdom willingly, offering their supplications and men to many a righteous cause. As was fitting, Levain received training in arms, preparation to take his place as a knight.
Then came the culling of the magic users. Astolat was always sympathetic to the plight of others, taking in refugees and healing them. In especial, they helped and sheltered Avalon to some degree, though when Bernard was given a choice, he sided with Uther. However, Bernard’s wife and Elaine, his daughter, sided with the hidden magical community of Avalon. Levain, always a protector and healer, protected his sister, but felt torn between his duties.
His proximity made him an excellent candidate for an Avalonian plot. They selected him, and bewitched him, making him believe himself to be the brave knight Sir Lancelot du Lac. Furthermore, they added on to his already preexisting inclinations toward magic users, making him believe himself to be a full fledged member of their community. Thus, they had developed someone who could infiltrate Arthur’s court and become a knight, a champion not only of righteousness, but of white magic.
Thus Levain followed Prince Arthur to the school known as Avalon. He managed to work with the king to some degree, and even strike up a friendly relationship with the manservant Merlin. Something happened that was not planned, however: Levain fell for Princess Guinevere of the Summer Country. He swore to be her knight and protect her, even above any other vows he had. His feelings and that oath have stood as his most important feature.
Avalon then shifted, and the students were transported to Tintagel. Due to forces of Fate, Levain was not transferred to the school, instead, the true Lancelot appeared to effectively take his place. Levi was thrust back home, his form restored, his memories merged with those of his Lancelot identity. The community did not want him to return, and thus he had to set on a quest, seeking out a means to reach Tintagel. This took him a year and a day, but his drive and his oath made him continue. He has finally found a way, and he fully intends to become the knight of the Queen, and to aid in the magic user’s plight as best he can.
Other: Levi’s dreams might come true; it really all comes down to Fate.
TELLtheTALE
Sample Post:
A battered, bloodied man stood outside a door at the very top of a building. Scratches and cuts lined most of his body, and he was fairly certain that he could feel himself bleeding down a side, a wound that he barely remembered taking. Bruises dotted places as well, a mixture of reminders and warnings that brought pain with nearly every shift. His sword hung at his side, slapping against the fabric. It was clean. The young man leaned forward, pressing his forehead against the door. Tears slid down his face for a moment, his body shaking. He swallowed hard, pushed against.
Lanc---no, Levain’s hand rose, and he rapped against the door. A pause, and he stared, trying to remember the memories that almost felt like dreams. It felt almost ludicrous; her face, this place, the modernity; her face, the beauty, a lake; he was sure they’d kissed by a lake once. He leaned his forehead against the door and took another breath. It was then that he saw the buzzer. He pressed it, holding it overlong, hearing the sharp noise.
The door opened. Levi nearly fell in. He looked at the person holding it, the person who likely looked quite surprised. Levi opened his mouth, the “Gw—“ sound already fresh on his lips, it quickly transformed, however, into a different word:
“Merlin.”
He blinked, stared at the gangly manservant, then closed his eyes. “Shit. Wrong flat. Can you let me in? I’ll try not to bleed on the carpet.”
