"Someone's puking their guts out!"

Normally that exclamation would pull laughter from anyone hearing, or maybe concern. From Lance it drew a heavy sigh as he lowered his head. He'd been enjoying himself, drinking a moderately stiff drink and actually nursing it slowly. But this was the first real time that the kids, and Lance couldn't help but think of them as that, had gotten a chance to cut loose. So of course they were messing each other up spectacularly.

Lance grabbed his medicine bag, downed his drink, and stood, looking around. He'd already tended to three cuts, another vomit, an attempted sexual assault (mostly someone getting handsy), and so many burns. So yes, bag, finish drink, and hurry over.

"Where's the vomit?" he asked, sounding resigned. People pointed, and soon Lance was kneeling next to someone, shifting them. "here, you don't want to check," he nodded, then twisted, looking around. "You," he pointed at someone, "water. Glass or flask. And it better be actual water or I'm going to kick your ass."

[Andrina]

Andy was facing in toward the fire when the shouting began. She was in a wheelchair now with a wet blanket covering most of her tail. The tip of is glowed in the firelight. It probably wasn't wise for her to be anywhere near the fire since she was trying so hard to keep herself from crying out. Andy was staring and doing that odd thing she did ever so often: thinking. She had just gotten engaged which was amazing and wonderful and she couldn't wait, but she had too because she was stuck with this stupid tail. Mumble hadn't arrived yet, but she was sure he would be around soon. They had been so sure Merlin could give her legs. What were they going to do now?

Thankfully, the shout made her sit up and blink, spiraling thoughts lost in the mitts of new found action. Someone was apparently vomiting, which made a lot of sense, since a lot of people where drinking pretty heavily. Andrina was not allowed to drink, which made her very bitter toward the passing drunks. Alcohol apparently dehydrates you and Andy would literally die if she got dehydrated at at the moment. She tried not to laugh a little at the person throwing up not too far away, but she felt a little sense of justice given her current predicament. Then, like instant karma, the man helping him pointed at her and asked for water?

"Me?" she asked, looking around. There was no one else he could have been pointing to, not to mention she had a large jug or water and a small spray bottle tucked between her fin and the arm of the wheel chair. She had to literally keep spraying her tail so she didn't have to go back into the lake everyday. It was pretty embarrassing. Yet, Andy was trying to remind herself to stay positive. Yeah this was pretty big road block, but here was better than being stuck in the ocean with Mumble. Helping someone might take her mind off things anyway.

She wheeled over best she could. She was still getting used to it. She scrunched up her face and bit her lip, but was taking an awkward amount of time to reach her destination in what seemed like a minor medical emergency. The man had seemed pretty urgent and she was trying her best, but it took her a minute to navigate the unstable terrain. In fact, she was focusing so hard that she nearly ran him over before clamping her hands down on the wheels and stopping sharply.

"Oops!" she said, baring her teeth in a apologetic grimace. "Andy to the rescue!" she said, trying to recover. She handed him the jug with some effort. Upon closer inspection Andy thought she may recognize this man, especially since he had a medic bag.

"Hey..." she said, narrowing her eyes at him. "Hey! It's the murse! she cheered, grinning. It was good to see another familiar face. "I don't know if you remember me, but you helped me out of a tree once." she said, looking wistful. Those were the days. She wanted to climb trees again. It had been a long time. "I had legs then" she added, addressing the fact that he may be a bit confused on how she got into the tree as a mermaid.

... okay, Lance was pretty sure he hadn't pointed to the girl in a wheelchair. Not that he wasn't certain she wasn't handicapable or whatever, but he definitely would rather not be dealing with two bodies instead of one. Just seeing her attempting to head his way nearly had Lance palming his face, let alone when she actually started talking.

Oh no.

"I'm sure I did," he said, he took the water, then moved to his patient. A hand went to sweep back hair while the poor girl started heaving yet more contents of her stomach, contents that appeared to be about 95% liquid. Really, couldn't she have at least eaten something? "I'm sure you had all kinds of legs. Now just," he held out a hand, stay out of the splash..."

and there it was: vomit all over his shoes. He closed his eyes, took a breath, and shifted. "Next time," he said, speaking softly to the poor vomiting girl, "drink some water in between," he offered some of the water Andy had handed over, letting the girl drink it. As for Andy herself, Lance seemed to be mostly ignoring her. Which probably wasn't too different from their meeting last time.

[Andrina]

Most people may have been deterred by the vomit or the general lack of interest the other party was having in the conversation, but Andy was not most people. She had been stuck in a darkness for years under the sea. She was stuck with a bunch of sisters and a father who could not understand why she wanted to get back to Tintagel so badly. She had not been very social for a long time. Yet, now she was back! She had found the love of her life and she had a lot of catching up to do when it came to talking. She liked to think she was pretty good at having conversations with herself anyhow. If he'd rather focus on vomit than making friends that was up to him, but Andy was keen to keep talking.

She flipped her tail to the side at his warning, narrowly avoiding getting vomit on herself. Lance was not so lucky. She stuck out her tongue. "Gross" she commented. She watched him give her the water and realized she was starting to feel uncomfortably dry herself. Still she felt like pulling out a spray bottle and spraying her tail could be a little weird just now. Normally Andy had no problem with weird, but she was currently very resentful of her tail. She focused her attention back on the puking girl.

"Do you have any seaweed in that bag?" Andy commented. Did people having seaweed on land? Was it just grass here? "Seaweed always helps settle my stomach." She said raising her hands in a 'just saying' sort of manner.

The girl puked again, but at least this time there was more water. Lance kept patiently holding the hair back, watching the vomit go out and rubbing her back. It would take a bit, but at least she was getting the alcohol out of her system. Lance was almost more worried about the kids around him that were stumbling around.

OH, right, Andrina. Lance sighed, closing his eyes as she spoke. He looked back to her. "I don't have any seaweed on me, just regular herbs and medicine, I'm afraid." He rubbed the girl's back, and could feel her stopping for a moment. He leaned down, offering the water again, which she took thankfully. "Next time, drink slowly and put the water in between," he mumbled again, fairly certain he'd already been giving that advice. He looked around, already all but sensing that people were vomiting.

His gaze went back to the wheelchair bound mermaid, his eyes falling to her tail. "You might want to get that looked at," he said, looking back up at her. "Seems like a real condition."

[Andrina]

Andy rolled her chair back a few inches when the girl continued to puke. Honestly how much more could she have left? Also Andrina kind of needed that water and was rather hoping she wouldn’t need it all. She shifted her tail uncomfortably, her scales scratching against the rapidly drying blanket. She was fine. She wasn’t about to go find Mumble and make him carry her to some pool or bath or lake somewhere in the middle of a party.

Dang. No seaweed. That was just about s far as Andy’s medical knowledge stretched. If the girl wanted to be sung to, she could help there, but Andy got the feeling that wouldn’t help much. The man nurse still didn’t seem much interested in talking, but Andy wasn’t ready to give up. She also didn’t want to just go back to sitting alone near the fire. She would rather sit her in awkward silence next to the person she knew only slightly more than the rest of the strangers surrounding her then go back to sitting alone.

Andy snorted when he mentioned her tail. Whether it was meant to be a joke or not, Andy thought it was funny. ”Yeah well” She began, rolling her eyes as she grabbed the spray bottle from beside her. ”Unless you have any leg granting pills on you, I think I’m stuck with it for a while.” She struggled to try and unscrew the cap, flipping her tail slightly a few times in the effort, nearly hitting him in the face. She couldn’t get it open and her throat was starting to feel strained and swollen. She needed water. Looking forlorn and exasperated, she sigh and held the spray bottle out to Lance. She wanted to dump it on her tail, at this point the spray wouldn’t be enough. ”Could you…?” She asked awkwardly.

The vomiting girl was pretty much past the point where Lance could really do much more to help her. It was a matter of having the water there for her to drink, both to replenish fluids and to help her get the taste out of her mouth. Plus she did have a few friends, or at least people concerned about her, around. Easy enough to hand things off to them. Another wonderful job done.

Which left the other one. Lance rose and looked at the mermaid. "I don't have any of those, no, but I know people who might," he offered. Though part of him was tempted to say that it wasn't a good idea: messing with magic never worked out well for people. But something like this, where the only reasonable solution appeared to be magical... or, well, a giant fishtank of some kind, how could Lance argue with that?

He took the offered bottle, unscrewing it almost too quickly, his muscles bulging for only a second. He handed it back to her, before studying her legs, or more accurately, her lack thereof. "Shouldn't the portal have transformed your body into something more... usable here? Or did you do something to make it hate you more than the rest of us? Because if so, I'd love to know what." Because at this point, Lance wasn't sure this realm could really dump more misery on people. Then again, he was facing a wheelchair bound mermaid girl who apparently needed water at regular intervals.

[Andrina]

"Who?" Andy said too eagerly when he mentioned knowing people that might have a solution to her leg problem. Andy needed legs. She'd only been in this chair a few days and it was already driving her insane. She could barely navigate with it. However, she had discovered rolling down steep hills was a rather fun pastime. Well, until you had to cart yourself back up again. Trying to rolling down hills underwater didn't have the same effect. In fact there were a lot of things that were more fun on land-hold on she was getting distracted again.

She focused back on Lance as he handed her back the bottle and began to ask a few questions. There, see? She knew she could get him talking. Andy was good at bothering people until they had to talk to her. It was a talent. She listened as she poured the water over the blanket on her tail and exhaled gently. instantly she felt better. It was easier to breath again. Andy smiled and looked up at Lance. He wasn't talking about particularly happy things, but Andy liked to focus on the good. She focused on feeling re-hydrated and the humor in what he was saying.

"Yeah it should have, but It didn't" She addressed his comment about the portal quickly, as if trying to toss it to the side. "You're not happy to be back, murse?" she poked, curiously.

"Merlin," came out before Lance even paused to think twice about it. "I'd start with him. There are probably some others that hang around in the library. The librarian," Lance paused, rubbing at his face. He was tired, and it wasn't just dealing with the vomiting girl. It was shit like this: a poor young woman who was now stuck in a wheelchair because this world decided to be troubling for her. No real reason: just fate screwing with them in the worst way possible.

He wanted a drink.

"No, no I'm not," Lance admitted. He looked around, his gaze falling on the alcohol on hand. Stupid to drink on the job. Stupid job, always making things more difficult for him than necessary. He rubbed at his face again, digging into his eyes for a few moments, letting some of the spots start to form while he tried to process everything. When he was done, little bursts of light seemed to circle Andy. "What about you? I'd be pretty mad if I came here with," he gestured at her tail, pausing to look to it. There had to be some sort of way of getting around that, didn't there? Besides the wheelchair...

[Andrina]

Andy made a sour face when he mentioned Merlin. Of course he was talking about Merlin. Merlin was supposed to be the guy to solve magical issues. Well apparently this was beyond even him. Lance then went on the mention the library and the librarian. Andy furrowed her brow and logged it away. She'd have to tell Mumble they should ask her or him next. Andy wasn't sure who the current librarian was. Andy didn't spend much time in the library. She preferred to live out her adventures.

She focused back on the conversation at hand when he said he was not happy to be there. It didn't really take a detective to guess that he was down about life. He was pretty grumpy for a guy at a party. She had a tail and she wasn't that grumpy. He needed to lighten up. He should probably have a drink. However, Andy wouldn't suggest it given that she couldn't drink herself. It was a bit odd to tell someone to get a drink and then just watch them drink it without joining in.

"Well" Andy said, addressing her greenish tail. "I'm not mad, I'm just excited to get rid of it eventually." she said honestly. It was a little annoying, yes, but she was confident they would figure it out. It was just a minor issue at the moment. "And until then, I'm just going to get really buff arms and then I'll be open this stupid spray bottle by myself." She said, smiling a bit stupidly at her own joke.

Not mad? Lance had to quirk a brow at that. Then again, the more she spoke and acted, the more he could at least remember the girl before him. Bit harder with the tail, but it wasn't that hard to mentally work around that, to try and see what she'd look like with legs or what have you. Still, he had to wonder about her optimism... wonder if it wasn't delirium.

"The wheelchair will help with that," he pointed out, nodding. "Builds upper body strength," he looked around again, didn't immediately see anyone who needed help, so he dared relax just a little. Of course, that only meant that he had the situation in front of him to focus on, his gaze again falling to those legs.

Actually: "Have you tried asking Grayle?" he asked, looking up toward her face, the human parts, more properly. "There's lots of magic and experts there," most of which Lance didn't know the origin of, which was worrying in its own right. "Might be able to do something," he added a slight shrug. He was almost tempted to add that since he was a vice president there, he could try and do something. But seeing as that would mean getting further involved, and he was pretty sure Gwen would help anyone from the school who needed it this bad.

[Andrina]

Could he not keep staring at her tail? She blinked the annoyance away in light of his words."Grayle..." Andy responded, furrowing her brow and looking to the side as she thought. "I hadn't thought of them." She hadn't even considered Gryale, to be honest. They were very powerful, sure, but If Andy could remember they'd caused a lot of problems too. Something about them gave her a very bad feeling. Yet, if Merlin couldn't fix her, Grayle might be her only option. She needed this tail gone. She needed it gone so she could hurry up and marry Mumble. She needed the constant reminder that she'd been stuck away from him for years to vanish forever. Grayle could be worth the risk. Although, Andy had often thought things worth the risk that had nearly gotten her killed, but that wasn't important.

"I'm not even sure how to contact them anymore." Andy said, finishing her thought and glancing back at Lance. Was there a phone number? It just occurred to Andy that she didn't have a phone yet. That could be a problem. Maybe she could write them a letter.
