Personality:Calm and almost so laid back he's horizontal...some of the time. He is your basic hippy magic do gooder but has a temper that can flare up just as quickly as a Dragon can breathe fire. Likes to think he knows everything, annoyingly probably does know everything. Preaches and teaches, preaches to those that doesn't want to hear it and teaches those that do, either way, he's going to talk and you're going to listen. Loves fiercely, whether it's the woman he loves or the magic that is a part of him, he loves. Is stubborn, extremely stubborn and isn't always easily swayed once he's got to a certain way of thinking. Being ever the hypocrite he hates those whose opinions refuse to change, that refuse to broaden their horizons and think outside of the cave.
Appearance: Looks like in his youth he was probably tall and gangly but since then has managed to fill out a bit...just a bit though, he still carries a certain amount of lankiness only now it's a part of the mystery that is him, rather than something most of the girls in his village mocked him for. Has thick dark hair which he normally likes to wear long, usually accompanied with a beard or stubble of sorts, is very rarely clean shaven, even when he's in court.
He wears dark browns and blacks when he is out in the forest, either running from Uther's anti-magic storm troopers or just looking for some dragons.
History: Grew up learning about magic from an early age, his grandfather being the one to teach him after his father was killed by a dark warlock. His grandfather explained to him about the line of Dragon lords, how there used to be many of them but were quickly wiped out as they were a powerful force within the magical community. When his Grandfather passed away he found that he had inherited his skills in taming and controlling Dragons. He used these skills regularly, not only to protect people but the Dragons themselves from being ruthlessly hunted down and killed.
During this time he was called to the court of King Uther to assist him with an important task. He asked Balinor to summon the Great Dragon so that he could make peace with them. However Uther tricked him and once the Dragon was there he chained it up in bowels of the castle. It was then that Uther began his purge of the magical people and Balinor had to run for his life, fleeing to the small village of Ealdor with the help of his long time friend Gaius. He took refuge with a woman called Hunith who he spent a long time with, a romance blossoming between them that would have continued had Uther not sent Knights to the village in search of Balinor. Once again he had to flee, leaving the woman he loved unaware that she was pregnant with his son.
For a long time he lived in the woods, in a cave, hiding out and making sure that no one, friend or foe could find him. After a long time there he decided that he would find a way to come back to Ealdor without having to run away, and to do this, he needed to bring down Uther. To do this he went to Albion’s closest neighbour, the Summer Country and endearing himself to the Queen there, soon found himself a valued member of the council, often consulted for his advice and the use of his magical abilities. However after the Queen’s mysterious death he grew suspicious of the king, the queen’s nephew and the rest of the council. He stayed for as long as he could but as soon as he saw things becoming sour he decided to go to Tintagel in search of the banished Princess and help from any other source…
Other: Dreams do come true…unless they are thwarted by Uther!
TELLtheTALE
Sample Post:
Trenale was a strange place.
He had seen stranger but it didn’t lessen the impact any and had for some time been wandering the streets of the village taking it all in for some time now. There was magic, everywhere, people using it freely and happily, much like the way the Summer Country used to be, but it was mixed with some kind of…mechanics? Was that the word they had used in his orientation? On arriving in this strange place he had been taken to an odd room where a man in some weird clothes, a suit apparently, had explained to him the workings of the town, given him a map, a handbook, and some money to get him started.
It was very strange.
They had assigned him a teaching position at the school, the place he was now searching for, teaching a subject he knew quite a lot about. It was definitely going to take some getting used too, the town that was, the mix of the stuff he recognised and the stuff that was alien to him, not the teaching. The teaching he was very used too having mentored many of the young children in the court of the Summer Country, one such person being the Princess herself, although she had been a difficult pupil. More often than not she skipped her classes to go out riding or into some other similar mischief. Although when he did get her to learn she had appeared to be quite intelligent, so he figured some of what he was teaching her had sunk in.
Turning the corner he saw the castle appear and smiled to himself.
