Personality: Hel is very much like the dead. She is quiet and reserved and nothing seems to phase her. Whatever happens she is calm. There is very little that upsets her and it is a rare day indeed for Hel to become angry. She is just not prone to anger.
However, that is not to say that Hel doesn’t feel. She has emotions, she just does not show them. She is devoted to her family and would calmly defend them should the need arise. She is also devoted to her job and takes it very seriously. She welcomes the dead into her hall with open arms. She has accepted that this is her Fate and she cannot change it.
Appearance: Hel’s true form is actually rather gruesome to behold. However she opted for a more human appearance. She has chosen the form of a young blonde woman, with a small body. She often wears heavy black eye makeup and almost never smiles. Her eyes have almost a dead look to them and she looks at people with a seemingly dead expression.
Hel is very thin and very pale and her blonde hair hangs down to about her waist. She usually prefers to dress in either white or black and very rarely wears any other colors. She is experimenting with the kinds of modern clothing that she can now find. She does not yet have a sense of style.
History: Hel is the youngest child of Loki and the Jotun Angrboda. She and her older brothers, Fenrir and Jormungand grew up happily with their mother until one day there was a prophecy told about the three siblings. The prophecy foretold that the three children of Loki would be responsible for the destruction of the world. The gods did not want that so they abducted the children and cast them out. Hel was cast into the Norse underworld Niflheim.
Hel was given a place of her own called Helheim where those that died of illness or old age came to Hel. Once they entered her hall they can never escape. It was a gloomy life she led, with only two attendants to serve her, plus the dead. It was also a very boring life, though she had never ventured out of Niflheim so she would never have to face Odin’s wrath.
However it came to be that she heard of a school where her father was teaching and she decided to go to this school so that she could spend time with her father. She made arrangements for those she would leave behind in Helheim and left her two attendants, Ganglot and Ganglati in charge of her hall until she would again return.
Other: dreams do come true unless you have been dragged down into the underworld in which case you can’t ever leave so then they wouldn’t come true.
