Merlin nodded slightly, he had expected as much - it was nice to be back here and the place had a lot of good memories attached and it was relaxing to be here away from their responsibilities, but they hadn't disappeared, they were still waiting for them back home, and the longer they were away the more pressing those responsibilities got. Camelot was important to Arthur, he wouldn't live it without a king for very long, and Merlin wouldn't want him to.
"I was thinking I might split some of my time," he admitted "Go back to Camelot but maybe come here to teach every now and again, a couple of days a week or something like that, just to keep an eye on the place, help what students I can, that sort of thing..." he loved knowledge, and knowledge shared was just as good to him as knowledge gained.
"I like that idea, though," he added softly, a nice little place here, where they may be able to stay with their friends or see future generations come and grow here, just the two of them, a place to retire where they could just be themselves "In the future... yes, I'd like that a lot."
