Cal would've flashed a grin, likely would've spoken about how very full of good ideas she happened to be. Except that she was still busy being all reserved and ladylike, which took her full concentration and effort. So much concentration and effort, in fact, that just having Richard shifting and teasing had her lips already twitching. She gave him a languid side eye, letting him see the slight curve of her grin.
Cal leaned in then, then went a little further, all but leaning over Prettyboy, halfway to climbing into his lap at this point. "If you wanna make more than insinuations, just say the word, prettyboy," she purred before nipping his ear and sinking back down into her seat, her grin turning even more feline.

Richard's upbringing meant he had often frequented the kind of tavern where ladies draping themselves over you was nothing new, and he smirked at her, relaxed and casual as she leaned over him, though the nip on his ear certainly earned a raised eyebrow and his expression grew slightly amused.
"How very forward of you," he noted "Is it common for women to be so free with their affections where you are from? I had heard all sorts of interesting things about the other worlds out there..." he didn't sound at all disapproving, there was a definite teasing note in his voice and perhaps just a hint of a challenge. He was interested to see how far she would go in her attempts to flirt with him, her behaviour was already along the lines of a tavern wench or whore back home.

"Pretty common, though it depends on which where you're talking about," so the guy knew about the other worlds, and from the sounds of it, he came from somewhere where people were decidedly less forward with their affections. Odd, considering that some of the best taverns Cal had been in were actually more medieval. She just had to be careful about which sex of person she started flirting with.
"So, you want me to show you all those interesting things? Or are you just going to sit here and talk more poetry? I'm good with whatever, but you shouldn't play a girl, prettyboy. Might find a playmate that likes getting a bit rough," Cal grinned then, showing off some of those too-sharp teeth of hers.

"Which where?" Richard repeated with a raised eyebrow "Does home mean more than one place to you?" unless she'd just misunderstood his question... but then, this place, maybe her parents had been from two different worlds, that seemed to happen sometimes and it would certainly explain her answer.
"Playing? Oh I think you're the only one here who's playing," he smirked, though his eyebrow quirked again at the sight of her teeth. He'd never seen anything quite like it, though he'd heard tales about the kind of people that came here, the kind of worlds they came from "Does everybody from your world have teeth like that?" he asked, curious despite himself.

He was either playing hard to get or he literally didn't get it. Both were weirdly enticing in their own ways, enough to make Cal's smile broaden just a little more. "Two homes," she supplied, figuring she might as well answer the easy one first. "Each mom came from a different world. One's a lot cooler with certain social norms and stuff than the other. Simple as that."
She shrugged, then leaned back in the chair slightly. She may have also stretched, showing off her lean body's flexibility. There may have been some slight thrusting out of the chest, though Cal knew that was about like trying to make a chocolate sundae look more appealing by adding a single cherry on top of it. She flashed the smile again.
"Not everybody, no. Just a handful of us. Don't worry though," she ran her tongue over the teeth, just touching her lips for a moment, "I only bite if you want to. Just say the word." A wink, and she was tempted to slide up and head back. She did decided to let her foot wander over, seeing if she couldn't start gently prodding. Even an idiot could get a signal like that.

Well. That made Richard give her a startled look.
"Each... are you... how do you have two mothers?" it just didn't quite compute with his medieval brain, and the fact that she had said it so casually confused him. Did she have a stepmother? Or was it some strange situation like his own, where she had a biological parent and one who had raised him, however much he trained himself to not refer to Vaisey as his father, the man didn't deserve such a title for a start.
He raised an eyebrow at her outrageously obvious flirting, deciding how to handle it, he could encourage her but she didn't seem the type to be easily dissuaded once she got going, which left continuing to mostly ignore it, or to reject her outright. Were he a nicer person, or more comfortable with himself, he might have chosen a kinder thing to say, unfortunately he wasn't.
"I don't have money to waste on women, biting or otherwise, so you're wasting your time." Did he imply she was a whore? Why yes, yes he did.

"Well, when a girl loves another girl very much," said Cal, tilting her head, "they have rampant amount of girl on girl lovemaking, and eventually one realizes that it just takes a little magic or something to turn that actual love into something resembling a thinking creature," Cal gestured at herself as she finished that spiel. Thinking creature seemed to be about as apt a descriptor of herself as anything would be, really.
Apparently her flirting was scoring something of a miss. She winced at his accusation, though, well, it wouldn't be the first time she'd heard that, heck, wouldn't even be the first time she'd heard that since coming to this school. "Man, already knew you weren't a gentleman ,but the full asshole heel turn? Killer twist," she shrugged. "This may surprise you, prettyboy, but not every girl that's super confident and sexy is turning tricks. I got more money than i know what to do with, and it didn't come from putting this awesome bod of mine to use. That's the extra perk. Don't worry though, I won't hold it against you."
She grinned that toothy grin again. She wasn't even expecting an apology: she'd already known him to be brusque when she'd started flirting. "Here's where you continue to try the whole rude jerkass thing you got working for you. Don't worry, the girls find that sort of thing super hot."

"I get the picture," Richard said archly, perhaps just a little too quick and a little too harsh for anything that might be considered polite, and his expression was one of displeasure. It often was when he was reminded of that kind of thing, especially publicly - it was not something to be talked about, not the kind of thing that someone could just come out and say, it was a closed doors sort of thing. At least, in his mind.
"I'm not trying anything," Richard rolled his eyes "I simply made an assumption based on my experiences, I didn't mean to be rude, but it's hardly my fault you act like a whore." clearly the tone he'd used on the girls talking at the other table was not an anomaly "I don't see the point in dressing things up in pretty words and politeness, it's easier to just be straightforward." There was no point making friends, it was safer to avoid it.

Wasn't trying anything? And a roll of those pretty eyes. So was he just naturally an asshat or was he lying through his teeth? Cal leaned back, even rocking back on the back legs of the chair while she studied the other guy. Given where he came from, it was a safe assumption and, well, Cal acted like her sex was on fire, and she wasn't referencing that old Kings of Leon jam.
"Alright, you got a point," she allowed, giving the chair another rock. "I kinda act like everything's for sell. Though everything else I mentioned? Pretty much true," she grinned, letting the legs of the chair fall back down, nearly shoving her back into Richard's lap. "So, you wanna play? Or do you seriously just need help figuring out how to write haikus?"
her gaze drifted to the page. That wouldn't be nearly as much fun but, well, hey, if he wasn't interested, she couldn't---okay, she probably could make him, but that wouldn't be right. And why would she if pretty well everyone else was not only willing but downright interested?

"Neither," Richard pointed out "You already gave me some advice on the poetry that will turn out to be useful, and I have too much to do for any sort of playtime." of course that wasn't strictly true, but it was a good enough excuse for now.
"But I'm sure there's plenty other... playmates out there for you to throw yourself at," he shrugged. Even though she'd been willing to concede his point about his own experiences, clearly he wasn't intending to meet her halfway and even begin to apologise for any of the insinuations he'd made, or be nice to her.
"I am not currently in the market for a muse," he added, referencing her earlier comments.

So either the whole surly guy thing wasn't an act, he was gay, or he just wasn't interested in an open girl. Irregardless, Cal wasn't the type to go rubbing against someone who didn't want to pet back. She shrugged, willing to accept it. She looked back to her work, wondering if she should stick there and pick up the work again or if he'd rather her take off to not bother him.
After a few seconds, she looked back. "You mind if I stick around and just work quietly then? You managed to scare off the hens, and I'm digging the quiet. Can bugger off if you want," she shrugged. She'd go with whichever he wanted, really. Wasn't like there weren't other places to work: this just happened to be a good one. She also might be implying that if he just wanted company or something else that didn't involve spreading legs or thrusting she'd be up, but she figured Richard could read into that as he would.

Richard shrugged, glad she'd at least stopped her heavy-handed flirting - he was quite sure it would work on a lot of men, but it didn't have much effect on him. Oh, he could play along and keep it going when he felt like it, for appearances' sake, but right now he didn't really feel like bothering, not without an audience, and even if she decided to go and whine to somebody about him turning her down, he had mastered the art of casual cruelty well enough to cover his tracks.
"Not at all," he waved vaguely at the table as if indicating her to go ahead. He had no problem with her sticking around and getting on with her work, as long as she stopped throwing herself at him.

A nod, and Cal took her seat. She put enough room between them not to invade Richard's space, and also to help her resist temptation. When something that delicious lay within reach, Cal was oh so tempted to start nibbling. But she really did want to work and be respectful and all that. Later though, oh, whoever she bumped into later was likely to be quite happy. Cal wondered if she could contact Suze again. Or maybe Polly. No, wait, those were girls. Man, how long had it been since she'd had a guy?
Her lyrics were definitely going to get flavored, but... let's go with "longing," longing was a good place to write music from, and Cal went to work writing words on paper, doing exactly what she'd said she would, settling into an almost easy quiet.
