Cal seemed to be moving unnaturally fast, although Genevieve was pretty sure that was just her adrenaline distorting things - she didn't tend to do things that gave her an adrenaline rush very often, so she wasn't entirely sure what the effects might be. Before she had time to ask, however, she was distracted by the use of yet another nickname.
"Do you have some kind of condition that makes it impossible for you to just use people's -" she ducked as more food came flying towards her "- names?" She asked, slightly breathlessly. She straightened up again, placing herself right in the firing line, and grabbed a nearby cup of water.
"It's not difficult..." She grinned as she began to raise the cup. "Three syllables. Nine letters. Simple pronunciation." The cup got higher, hovering over Cal's head. "Genevieve." She dumped the water out on Cal's head, earning her a cheer from the boys nearby, who had wholeheartedly thrown themselves into the food fight. "Give it a go." She grinned, dropping the cup back on the table.

The food was keeping mostly away, but Cal paused to see Just Genevieve rising up. Her brows went up as the water raised. She followed the cup more than the girl, gaze locked. Up and up it went, until finally tipping over, water sluicing down Cal's head. It thankfully wiped away some goop as it went, leaving Cal just chuckling and looking down at Genevieve.
"Hey, look at that," she said, sticking her tongue out to snag a little bit of the runny liquid that was just catching at the edge of her lip. "Got me wet in three syllables. Good on you,' she leaned forward, all bt rasping the name, "Gen. Eh. Veeve."
The blush returned in full force as Cal leaned forward and said her name, and Genevieve felt a weird sensation in her stomach as she looked into Cal's eyes, breathless and laughing.
She pulled back again, sitting back down as the food fight continued around them. "So, I guess there's going to be serious retribution for that..." She looked back up at Cal, attempting to put on her most innocent face. "Unless I can make it up to you in a way that doesn't involve me getting covered in food or drink?"

Cal smirked as the little kitten, precious Just Genevieve all but flirted back with her. Was she actually trying? It was entirely possible that Cal had misread the little bookworm. Just because someone dug eating alone with some ancient poetry didn't mean they didn't have some fire in them at the end of the day, after all.
"I can think of some things,' offered Cal. She crooked a finger, just catching it under Genevieve's chin. A slight tilt, a move up, and Cal fluttered forward. Genevieve would just feel the slightest brush of lips on hers, not quite a kiss so much as the suggestion of one, a hint of possibilities that could be unlocked in time. Cal didn't linger: she knew better, particularly without express permission, but she also didn't seem particularly ashamed of her stolen liplock. She favored Genevieve with another jaunty wink.
Then jerked her tray up just as a glob of good threatened to ruin the moment. "Expert timing," said Cal, giving Genevieve another wink and a toothy smile.
She all but froze as Cal's finger lifted her face, her eyes locking on Cal's as she came closer. Was she going to... Her breath caught in her throat as Cal's lips brushed hers, just for a moment, that jolt in her stomach hitting her hard again. She stared at Cal as she moved away again, a thousand thoughts racing through her mind.
Genevieve had never really thought about relationships, or boys - or girls for that matter. Being surrounded by siblings back at home she'd never really had the opportunity to explore any kind of feelings that might have arisen had she spent any time with people she wasn't related to, and as time had gone on and she'd gotten older she'd just thought about it less and less. She'd noticed people she thought were attractive, of course, girls and boys, but she'd never done anything about it - she felt that she was the least noticeable of all her siblings, and when you're overshadowed by someone as confident and out there as Jenny, or as beautiful as Meredith, people's eyes tended to slip straight past you. So, she'd buried herself in her books, cared for her siblings, and never really thought about anything else until she came to school.
Of course, growing up in Camelot meant that she was no stranger to the different types of relationships and love that existed in the world - Arthur and Merlin's love was no secret among the family, and she knew that boy-girl relationships were far from the only ones that existed. She also knew that Tintagel was a place that was much freer than Camelot in that respect; it was a place to explore your feelings and experiment, to discover who you really were and what you really liked. And honestly, Genevieve had no idea. She definitely liked boys, she had felt that flutter talking to Eddie, and other boys had caught her eye before too, even if she'd done nothing about it and had disappeared into her books rather than pursue anything. But meeting Cal, and the feelings she was experiencing with each look and touch, she was very aware that these were very similar sorts of feelings. And, she thought to herself, what was wrong with that?
And that wink? That smile?
Without allowing herself to think too hard about it, Genevieve leaned forward quickly and kissed Cal, closing her eyes briefly before pulling away, flushing bright pink and slightly breathless.

So technically Cal had sort of kissed her fair share of straight girls, or, fairly often, girls previously known as straight. Sure, some of them were just curious, and Cal did have the whole short-haired, kinda lanky frame that did lend itself to a little more androgynous look, though you'd have to be an idiot to miss the curves. Plus that was more her sibling's thing, god bless 'em, not Cal's. Some got all fluttery. Some of them got caught up in things. Usually the shyer ones were more likely to flutter, believe it or not. So Cal had half been expecting that, particularly since, y'know, there just happened to be a foodfight going on.
All this is to explain why Cal of all people actually got caught flatfooted by Genevieve's return kiss.
Reflex kicked in and she did kiss back, though it was very nearly a sort of parting wave as opposed to an actual contact. It had Cal letting out a light laugh, eyes sparkling. "There you go, Gen-eh-veeve," she all but purred again. She leaned forward, only to have to jerk back as another glob shot their way. People were grinning though, and Cal chuckled.
"Hun, if you don't wanna have that get around, you're gonna need to slap me," she said, looking to Genevieve. "Otherwise those girls are gonna be singing that Just Genevieve fancies herself some ladies. I don't give a fuck either way, but I ain't gonna take you down with me unless you fancy that."
Genevieve was finding that she really liked the way Cal said her name. She had felt Cal begin to kiss back, and was almost annoyed with herself for pulling away so fast. But, for a first kiss, that had broken all expectations Genevieve had ever had. She didn't know what it meant, and there were one hundred and one questions she was going to have to ask herself later running through her head, but right now, she didn't care. Boys, girls, who was to say she couldn't like both? Or kiss both?
She considered Cal's suggestion for barely a minute, before making her decision about how to deal with the whole thing. She glanced at the girls, who, between trying to wipe lumps of gloop off themselves were staring at Genevieve and Cal. So there was going to be some whispering, some rumours. Well, Genevieve had spent most of her life telling people they shouldn't care what others thought, that they should be proud of who they were. That they should hold their heads up high and ignore the whispers of people who had nothing better to do.
Maybe it was time Genevieve started following her own advice.
Leaning forward, Genevieve took hold of Cal's shirt and pulled her closer, kissing her again, longer this time before she pulled away, flushed. She shrugged with a smile. "Let them sing."

Cal had to grin as Genevieve pulled her close. Well, if nothing else, Cal had definitely made the girl's lunchtime memorable. Cal leaned in and kissed right back, letting it linger for just a few moments. She parted with her own little flush and smile. "Amen, Genevieve,' she all but purred, technically using the girl's name correctly for the first time. "Friday night. Six. You're going on a date with yours truly,' she winked, "got to make an honest woman of ya."
With that, Cal dipped Genevieve just in time to dodge another bit of food. She gave the girl another quick peck, winked, and rolled atop the table. "Who said there's no love on a battlefield, eh?" she scooped up some goop with her tray, flinging it back at the table, before moving with her other hand to resume the fight. After all, they had a foodfight to deal with first; the loving could come later.
A date. She had a date. With Cal. Genevieve had a date with Cal. She almost wanted to squee aloud, but she managed to retain some semblance of dignity and simply smiled, biting her lip a little as Cal turned to resume the food fight.
Grabbing a handful of food, she turned and flung it, not even caring where it landed anymore.
