"oh, that's totally you, Meredith," insisted Lorelei as Tristian explained. She let her hand travel along the book, considering. It couldn't be worse than Star Wars, she supposed. Not much could. She could hear the other two teasing, only seeming to half-realize that they were, in fact, siblings and all. Strange how they all had that twisted, messed up family tree.
"Oh, you know me," Lorelei said with a shrug, "you guys will probably be forcing me into bed with tea in no time," but Lorelei definitely wasn't going to get up now. Her gut hurt sharply, and she found herself leaning back a little. Now that everything was out there, her plan, their mutual appreciation, Lorelei could feel it all sort of settling in, letting the pain rise up to the forefront, nearly drawing tears back to her eyes.
Nearly: with this much warmth around her, tears simply couldn't form.
Tristian rolled his eyes at the nickname. He supposed it was only fair; he supposed it was their way of showing affection to each other.
It had taken him quite some time to get over his resentment of his younger sister, Meredith that is, not Lorelei. After all, Tristian knew he had his mother’s love regardless of who else came along, but his father’s love? Tristian was a child of convenience, an heir. Meredith had been born out of love. That sort of things sticks in the throat. However, in time he had come to realise that he could not blame Meredith for that. Oh it still hurt, but he had learned to cope with it and not to lay all the blame at Meredith’s feet.
Looking back around at Lorelei he smiled warmly and said, “well of course. It’s the ‘Summer’ way don’t you know. Tea solves all problems, and as a Summer I know you know that.”

"Even I know that," Meredith agreed with a faint smile "so you're right, bed and tea it is until you're fully healed." And she would hold the other girl to that, she fully intended to keep a very close eye on Lorelei even once she was allowed to leave the hospital, making sure she didn't do anything to pull out her stitches or generally set back her recovery time. It would be difficult, of course, but she was still determined to do it - it would be a good way to smooth away the guilt that she felt over all this happening, because if she hadn't... if the thing hadn't happened with Mordred, they would never be sitting by Lorelei's hospital bed. She couldn't turn back time and change anything, but she could help Lorelei recover.
