this is my hoard. Of one. So far. It will grow.

DOC the dwarf,
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Doc (just call him that, he doesn't tell people his real name) is a former diamond quality inspector who's opinionated, enjoys a good joke, and is determined to help all the students waiting for their story that happily ever afters to at least consider their options first. One and all are always welcome to drop by for a talk if they feel they need a bit of perspective, some advice, or just someone to talk to.
It's what he's there for after all.
Having been the student councilor at Tintagel Academy for a good few years now, I'd hope Doc already has a few friends among the staff who like his sense of humor and don't mind it when he gets started on the problems with Princes these days.
Still, if you mistreat your step daughter, try to give him an apple, or think that a dead girl in a glass coffin would make a good decoration for your castle, it's much more likely he'll see you as an enemy.
And while a firm advocate of love, at 200 years old Doc's has known for a while that there really just aren't a lot female dwarfs out there. But that's ok. There are still diamonds. There are always diamonds.

ESME WEATHERWAX the witch,
Discworld
Esme is a new arrival at Tintagel and is not adjusting as well as some of her fellow staff to the modern world. Still distrustful of anything that beeps or chimes, not to mention coming to terms with having to be young again, Ms. Weatherwax is a strict and uncompromising teacher with her own look on what magic really is.
To be her friend you will first and foremost have to understand that Esme is never, ever, wrong. She may be misinformed or mistaken but she is never wrong. That being said, she really is rarely wrong, and if she is, whatever it is she was wrong about usually has the good manners to correct itself to fit her.
It is hard enough to make Esmerelda take you seriously, it is even harder to convince her you are worth the effort it takes to have an enemy. Still, if you go out of your way to antagonize her, or (if you don't mind stares that can turn you to stone) laugh at her, she may start speaking to you very politely. If this happens, it is recommend to present a gift of food or clothing (black, preferably) to undo the damage.
Lovers are out of the question in her opinion, but then, she's not the one steering this thing.
