Plum had said it might be good for him to go to the Halloween party. She seemed a little hesitant there, mind you, 'cause she was probably thinking that Snow might be here too...but...Roger couldn't tell you why. Maybe he thought that if he went to something that he used to adore (heck, even when they were stuck in that haunted house and he was Sherlock Holmes, he had a blast!)...'cause he didn't want to be this person, he really, really, really didn't. He used to be funny. He used to make people laugh. Sure, a lot of sourpusses thought he was obnoxious, annoying, whatever...but he didn't care. He just worked on making the world laugh, and...he missed that. Sure, he missed Snow too, but he missed himself most of all, he thought.
And this costume seemed exactly like the kind of thing he would have definitely worn back when he was funny, and...he had to admit, he managed the tiniest baby smile when he saw it online and decided to order it. He had even been silly enough to think that he couldn't move his arms in the costume and put the makeup on first, which had smudged it quite a bit, but soon he figured it out...and maybe let out a tiny chuckle? Gosh, he was trying so, so, so hard here...
Oh hey. There was Plum. He managed another tiny smile and made his way over, trying for a spooky voice. It was okay, but it sounded kind of weak...gosh, was that gonna be how he joked for the rest of his life?
"Wooooo," he greeted his friend, then put on a smile. "Heya Plum...I decided to come anyway."
If Eric ever had a biggest fan, there was no doubt about it being his Maxie. He had to admit, it took him a while to get used to the idea of her being human, while still having a dog's brain, as it were, but nowadays he was really seeing the perks of it. After all, there were always times when every dog owner had to wonder if their dog was really as happy as they seemed to be with those "doggy grins". After all, animal facial expressions probably worked pretty differently from people. But now? Now he knew for sure when she was happy or not, and...well, okay, he had to admit, hearing her say she was excited about the party? It was enough to make him grin.
"That's my girl," he answered, moving to give his "dog" a hug, then he adjusted one of the braids of her wig. He had to say, he was pretty happy with picking this costume for her. A little politically incorrect, perhaps, but c'mon. It was Halloween, who was really going to care? And it suited her really well, especially when she danced around like that.
"Now, you remember the rules we talked about at home, right?" he then said, trying hard to not sound too stern, because it was still a party. He just wanted to prevent anyone from being too freaked out by Max just being, well, Max. He counted them on his fingers and decided to say them, just in case. Sure, she was a smart dog, but better safe than sorry. "Stay close to master; Saying hello will go over better than licking people; For God's sake, stay away from chocolate." Okay, so that last one was more of a paranoia thing, but just because she was a human, why should he take a chance by assuming that meant that chocolate wouldn't still be a big no no?
Then he grinned again. "And of course have fun, but that goes without saying, doesn't it girl? And who's my good girl??" Normally he would've ruffled her hair, but obviously she was wearing that wig and hairpiece so nicely, and he didn't want to mess those up. Seriously, he was almost forgetting that this probably looked weird to most people...eh, who cared? If they were eavesdropping that carefully, they needed lives.
Oh bloody hell, there it was, the pouting. The pouting and the thick accent, and Lance knew that Gawain wasn't drunk yet because he'd been talking perfectly normally until then, and he hadn't even spiked the punch or broken into his ever-present hipflask (Lancelot privately suspected that Gawain actually carried several, secreted about his person).
He only actually understood about one word in three, but rather than having to listen to more unintelligable gabble, he just shook his head and sighed resignedly, taking hold of the wheelchair again and pushing his friend with perhaps a touch more force than was necessary.
"Not..quite...?" Bedivere's face fell a little, technically he was being complimented, but he did like to please and Arthur had been so thrilled about him being the Doctor that he'd wanted to get it right, but unfortunately due to a little technological incompetence he hadn't actually managed to get hold of the images that Arthur had hoped to provide, and had done his own research. "Were you intending it to be the chappy with the scarf?" He asked a little hesitantly. He'd just about managed to work out that they were the same person, at least, although not the same actor, which was odd.
"Oh! Yes, I did!" He rifled through his pockets until he found the screwdriver toy, he also pulled out a pair of black-framed glasses, a key on a piece of string, and some old-fashioned 3D glasses "And these, too!"

Merlin decided not to touch that one with a ten foot pole, and leave the tights conversation where it was - especially when Anya started butchering his character's name and he had more important things to worry about. (Well, more important tonight, where he hoped - very ferverently - that everything was going to be frivolous and entertaining and just plain fun, with none of the normal drama... yea he didn't think it would happen either.)
"Robin," He corrected "As in, Batman and Robin? Do you know nothing about pop culture?" He wasn't genuinely upset with her for getting it wrong though, more cheerfully amused. So far this night was shaping up to be quite good, and hopefully that would at least put him in good stead for whatever horrors would eventually unfold.
Then they stepped into the room and he, of course, almost immediately spotted Arthur. Arthur who looked... well, he'd never realised the prat would look so good with long hair.
Plum was on the lookout for anyone she knew. So far she didn’t know anyone so she was wandering around the room. She hoped Roger would come. She wanted him to get back out and about to try to get him to cheer up a bit. He was so down and understandably so, but she worried for him. He wasn’t the same and healing would take it’s time, but she wanted to show him that he had something to live for. Plus, she was always there for support.
She was surprised but delighted when Roger did show up in a tree costume. It seemed an odd choice but perhaps no more odd than the elf. She smiled at him though. She was relieved to see him. “Roger, I’m so glad you came.” He seemed to be okay for the time being too, which was also a relief, but she’d keep an eye on him. And she’d try to keep things light and fun. It was Halloween after all.
“You look rather spooky in that costume. Where did you find it? I’ve never seen a costume like it.” Plum had seen a lot of costumes in her time too. Granted, a majority of them had been dance costumes, but still she had never seen a tree costume quite like that. It seemed to suit Roger. It was him, even if he wasn’t quite the cheerful young man he used to be. But he would get there.
Giselle was looking closely at some of the decorations when she heard her name called. And she looked up and there was Bartok with a very pretty zombie woman. Oh, wasn’t this nice? They were all three of them zombies! This was going to be the best Halloween she had ever had, even if it was the only one she had had so far. She hurried over to them very cheerfully.
She beamed at Bartok when he said she looked horrible. They all looked quite horrible. Wasn’t it lovely? What a horribly lovely group of zombies they made together. “Oh, Hermia, that’s such a lovely name,” Giselle exclaimed. “And you make a wonderful zombie! Why, we all look so wonderful!” Giselle of course meant this in the nicest way possible. She didn’t think for just one second that Hermia might take that a different way.
“Isn’t the party wonderful? Everything just looks wonderful! I’m so very excited! What do people do at Halloween parties? I’ve never been to one before. We didn’t have them back in Andalasia, but perhaps when my Edward comes for me we can have Halloween back in Andalasia too!” This was such an exciting plan!
Max was most definitely Master’s number one fan! No one could ever love you as much as your dog that was for sure. And Max loved Master a lot. He was the best master ever! He even let her come to the party! And Max was never invited to parties, so this was going to be special. And when he hugged her she snuggled against Master because she was his girl. She was his very good girl. She was so good Master bought her a costume and let her come to the party!
Master was talking about the rules, but Max wanted to run around and say hello to people. There were so many people here! She just wanted to say hi to them all! And lick them! And have them tell her she was a good dog. But she had to listen to the rules. “Stay with Master,” she repeated. “No licking. No chocolate.” She was a little sad about that. She really liked to lick people. How else were people supposed to know that she liked them? And Max really liked chocolate too, even if her tummy hurt after. It was good, but Master said that chocolate was bad for her.
“Max!” she cried in answer to Master’s question. But then Max got distracted because she saw her friend Mia! She was wearing a big dress and it looked funny, but it was Mia. Quickly Max raced over to her and licked her face in greeting completely forgetting the no licking rule. “Mia!” she cried happily. “Max at party too!” Then she bounced happily in place before she realized that Mia was talking to people she wasn’t friends with yet! Max bounded over to lick first the boy’s cheek and then the girl’s. Then she bounced happily in place.
Flitting around as best she could, Lottie was practically bouncing with excitement by the time her little helper showed up to hand her the guest list he had so meticulously checked off and tell her that all her guests were present and accounted for.
“Thank you, sugah. Why ain’t you just the sweetest thing helpin’ l’il ol’ me out like this,” she cooed, gently patting his cheek. He was practically drooling all over the front of his skeleton shirt as she folded up the list and tucked it into the front of her dress. “Now why don’t you run along and make sure there ain’t nobody trying to get in here that’s not on the list, okay? Would you do that for me?”
Batting her eyelashes, Lottie barely waited until the boy had run out the door, tripping over his own feet as he went, before she shut it behind her and flipped the lock. The last thing she needed was some ruffians showing up and trying to crash it. Brushing off her hands, she flipped one side of the long black hair of her wig back over her shoulder before shuffling back over to a group of her guests with a loud “Thank you for coming! Why don’t y’all just look marvelous!”
((The doors to the ballroom are now locked, so everyone that is now inside will not be able to leave. Lottie takes her parties very seriously. Also, if you RSVP’d or were recently accepted but haven’t posted to the actual IC party thread yet you can still do so, just please write it that your character is already there instead of having them just arrive, and do so as promptly as you can. Thanks!))
Hel had managed to arrive at this school just in time for the celebration they called Halloween which came from an even earlier belief that on this one night the spirits of the dead would walk amongst the living yet again. However Hel knew that that assumption was false. It was merely a tale with which to frighten children. The souls that she collected in her hall could never leave. Frankly, no one could leave once they entered Helheim, except its mistress of course.
Tonight was a party. The living liked to dress up for the occasion in costumes, though Hel did not understand this in the slightest. She had only decided to join in the festivities because the students here would soon be her own students. Perhaps it was time to study what the living did. She was rather curious about what a party was anyway. What did one do at a party? The only way to find out would be to go.
Perhaps her father would be here. He had always liked a good party. He had always been a trouble maker and though she had not seen her father in quite a long time stories about his mischief had made their way down into her hall, tucked away in the underworld of Yggdrasil. She could expect that he might be here, but if not then she could seek him out at a later date. She was now a teacher here at this school as was he. There would be time enough.
Hel walked amongst the living, watching them curiously. They were strange beings. Some were loud, others bossy. They were all so very different. She watched them all as she roamed the room with her undead-like stare and blank expression. The living were quite strange.
Actually, Hermes had been one of the very first guests to arrive, he'd simply been taking in the scene for a while. He knew very well that this was one of those night where an awful lot of the people he had played his tricks on showed up in one place together. This was dangerous, good thing Hermes was in a particularly dangerous mood. He was casually leaning against the wall in a more shadowy part of the room, his head was tipped down so that the brim of his top hat hid his eyes and cast a shadow on his twisted smirk. His ankles where crossed in a comfortable position and a white cane hung off his right arm. His hands he kept busy with small card tricks. They didn't require lavish moments of any kind, just the flicking of his wrists and the careful placement of his fingers. He wasn't quite ready to draw a whole ton of attention to himself, but, if you looked closely enough, you'd notice that the things he was performing with cards would have been impossible to anyone without actual magic. Hermes was a dark magician tonight and he very well planned to play the role with pride.
It wasn't long before several of the people he'd cased some kind of drama with appeared. It was Plum who came first. Ahh Plum, she might be a bit too smart to want to socialize with him again, however, he'd better wait on approaching her unless he was look for a challenge that could last all night. He was really hoping to win far more than one game tonight. It was Della that came in next, oh she would be fun, along with.....oh. Hermes lips curved downward for a brief moment. Alyss. This was...unfortunate. If Della was planning on hanging out with Alyss he might have to avoid both of them, which was obviously less than ideal. Della was so fun to mess with, but, at least at the moment, it wasn't worth risking another run in with his sweethearts look-a-like. After that, Aphrodite herself entered the room. Hum. He'd been hoping she'd come, but chaperoning really wasn't her style. Then again, it wasn't his style either and he really didn't plan on doing any kind of proper "chaperoning" tonight, perhaps she had the same sort of thing in mind. Last, but certainly not least, Galahad made his way to the party....dressed as a woman. He knew he had that boy pegged as class A homosexual. Good then, his endeavor should be easy. Although he was going with the nice guy routine with Galahad, and he wasn't much feeling up to being a nice guy tonight. So then. Who to terrorize first?
Perhaps he'd just hold his ground a little bit longer, let a few things play out...or maybe.... Hermes raised his deck of cards to his mouth and blew on them gently. The top card flew in Aphrodite's direction and slid gracefully under one of her shoulder straps. The king of hearts gave her a wink from the visible side before returning to its normal, frozen state that most pictures and drawings remained consistently.
Panic didn't quite understand Halloween. He'd been to a few since he'd come here, though he just didn't really grasp the concept. You were supposed to dress up as goblins and ghouls and other frightening things that Panic used to see almost every day of his life, then go around and ask for candy from strangers. Not only did that seem rude and something he would never do, but ten times more terrifying than any haunted houses or scary costumes he might encounter. Panic was planning on wearing what he did normally, but with a mask, but, as it turns out, his clothes fit a little snug ever since he'd...well...changed after Della kissed him. He was actually a healthy weight now, which he'd never been before, so jeans and a tee shirt where out. Though he was thinking they'd be ruled out for more reasons than just that. On one side of things. he wanted to make himself look unrecognizable so he could avoid Della. This should be easy for him, but then he also had this terrible, nagging urge to not only look himself, but look as presentable as he could in case he did actually...somehow... run into Della. He felt completely and utterly split and it was causing him great anxiety, though it was never enough to revert him back to the way he looked before. It was like a candle that had always existed in him, but had never been lit, now flicked inside him since Della returned his affections and, no matter how he try, that flame could not be snuffed. He had the terrible feeling that the only one who could ever douse it, was the one who lit it in the first place. Not that he...really want her to...put it out...
Panic shook his head and nervously straightened the strange sort of tie around his neck which seemed to be tightening with ever passing moment. he had decided on a sort of costume that covered most of him, but, in all honesty, made him look far more appealing than he could have ever imagined. He was wearing a proper suit with tails, and pretty sort of velvet pattern imprinted on the black coat and white vest. His pants were plain black to match his gloves and his simple mask. He felt completely odd, but not out of place in the huge room, everyone else was dressed up too at least. He was certainly unrecognizable, or so he hoped, only two people had seen him the way he looked now and, unfortunately, they were both here.
He wavered awkwardly on one side of the room, having seen Della walk in, but his heart and mind pulling him in two different directions. he swallowed hard and gave the dog/girl Max a wary glance, hoping she wouldn't notice him. He felt slightly sick and the twisting in his gut made him worry if he might lose control of his shapeshifting as he often did. His hand flew up to adjust his tie again. This was starting to become another one of his nervous ticks, along with the way he kept pulling at his gloves and fixing his mask. What to do...what to do!
Egeria had never really attended a Halloween party dressed up before. She didn't have much business to be before. She'd only attended in the past to observe the strange holiday and see if there was anyone there she could possibly help. This year, however, she had gone all out when it comes to costuming. Thats right, when i say all out, I mean she she literally decided to attend this party as someone else. You see, while conversing with the greek god Apollo she had come to the realization that she could never win Milo being the way she was. She was so...outside the norm of human society. She was an outside observer and she knew Milo could feel that. She was too strange and a bit frightening for him to feel comfortable around her and, if he could not feel comfortable, how could she expect him to like her? So, with that in mind, she'd transformed her image, easy enough given that she was simply a cluster of apple blossom petals, an echo of her true form, if you will excuse the pun.
Egeria had entered the party just before the doors had been closed, looking absolutely nothing like herself and actually quite stunningly beautiful. She was a bit taller than she once was, something she was still getting used to, along with all the walking since floating or use of her powers in any such way would certainly ruin her illusion. She had long blonde locks that she had braided for the occasion, making a golden rope long enough to fall a few inches past the shoulder she let it rest over. She chosen a reddish pink color for her Indian Princess costume, so it would compliment her skin tone and bright blue eyes. A matching headdress circled her head and draped a veil down her back. Her top was rather small and, though Egeria tended to radiate her own climate of spring like warmth, she was well aware that most humans didn't and she best have some sort of cape like piece of clothing to cover her some, to at least look as though she needed sheltering from the cold. Good. She looked just as she wanted, now all there was to do was wait for Milo to show.
Princess Natasha Sophia Ruslana Aleksovski III was her title. She'd chosen it carefully and said it enough times aloud to be sure it was comfortable in her mouth, like she'd been saying it her whole life to suiters and other royals at parties she had to take part in back home. Natasha didn't like all the rules she was required to follow, Egeria had decided, though she understood her duty and would do anything for her people. She had designed her personality to be at least vaguely similar to the one known as Kida. Seeing as the man she was trying to impress had been quite taken with her. Strong, smart, royal, interesting, all these things Egeria had put to work in her mind, spending hours forming the her fake identity in her mind until she could easily pretend like she'd lived her whole like this way. Should this tunr out as planned, she should learn so much, it almost sent a quiver of excitement up Egeria's spin, though that would require far more emotion than what she had yet to gather and experience.
She looked around with a light smile on her lips, Natasha was excited to meet people outside all the proper people her father forced her to interact with all the time back home. Though she would not forget the reason she came here, to seek help for her kingdom in Russia. Her father fears there is an evil sort of magic at work, something her, nor she, knew much about. Seeking help inside the kingdom could mean word getting out and panic ensuing. No, she needed to find a place where she could learn about magic and such far away and so, she traveled here. Where she now poured herself a bit of punch, finding, curiously, that it was unlike any of the royal sort of beverages she was served back home.
And all this, Egeria recited in her head to ensue she hadn't left any holes. She had made herself into a new person for the sake of science, now all she could do was hope it paid off.

Halloween. Milo couldn't think about Halloween without going all historian on the origins of the holiday, and how this kind of little party wasn't anything like the ancient intent behind the costumes and such, but while there was a budding historian inside of him, there was also a teenaged boy, and he did like to have fun every now and then. And costume parties were fun. Especially when you got to dress up as the most cavalier representation of your chosen field of study.
Milo had paid particular attention to detail when assembling his Indiana Jones costume. Right down to the deliberately torn shirt, the worn trousers, and the scuffed up boots. The hat had been difficult to find, but he'd done it, and the whip he had purchased at a local "specialty" store...which had only not been scary by the grace of Milo's having visited much more sexually liberated cultures than this one.
Anyway, he had been wandering around the room for a good fifteen minutes now, and he still wasn't sure he saw anyone he recognised. There were so many costumes...he was on the lookout for Apollo or Egeria in particular, but he would have settled for anyone familiar. Oh, there was Alyss, with another girl. He glanced over at another girl, a rather attractive one, who was standing nearby, as he made his way over to stand by Alyss and Della.
"Hey Alyss!" he said, then remembered that he was Indiana Jones, and tried to put on a cocky smirk instead, lifting a hand to adjust his hat.
[Ack, I've been so busy! I'll post as Nessa next!]
Helena looked around at the party, and smoothed down her dress. Della had explained Halloween to her, which was nice of her, and she thought it was a fun idea, that once a year people dressed up as things they weren't. Which is why she went with this, a fairy was what the package said. She smiled as she wandered around and looked for someone she knew. Maybe she'd find someone she knew and tonight would be more fun than she had already planned on it being!
She was quite hopeful as she walked over to the punch table and looked around. The decorations were spooky, very spooky. That was, at least that was how she understood it, good. That people wanted Halloween to be spooky. She wasn't used to all these new celebrations and it was so exciting! She couldn't help but grin as she drank some punch and watched everyone.
