Cinderella thought about it for a moment, before finally nodding. She had to admit she could see Lottie's point, and just because something usually happened one way didn't mean it was against the rules for it to happen any other.
"If that's the sort of person you are," Cinderella began, not unkindly "Then maybe you'll find your prince that way, because that would just be how your story goes. You must always be true to yourself, I'm sure that's very important." It sounded like the right sort of uplifting message to give someone, and maybe if it was destiny it wouldn't matter if you pushed for it or not, it wasn't going to ruin your chances of finding your true love, and it wasn't like she'd accidentally fall in love with somebody else, because that wasn't how it worked - as far as Cinderella was concerned - you fell for your true love and that was that.
Cinderella didn’t sound entirely convinced, though she did stop protesting. Of course she didn’t let the whole ‘story’ line go. Maybe Lottie just didn’t have a story like she did. Maybe Lottie got to write her own story however she wanted. Maybe that was what this whole place was really for. And maybe she would just find her prince before Cinderella anyway, because if they had to follow their stories, then shouldn’t the other girl be back home cleaning the fireplace until her Fairy Godmother arrives to give her the glass slippers?
Oh well, it wasn’t her story to judge, even if she already was doing just that, albeit silently.
“Well I guess we’ll just have ta see how it goes, ‘cause if I gotta wait around for someone then they just ain’t worth my time. A true gentleman never makes a lady wait,” she replied, tilting her chin up a bit snootily. But now the question was how to start looking? There was always the dragon idea, though maybe that was better for a last resort as it could be potentially dangerous. So something else, something grand that would gather everyone in one place, but under the guise of a social event that really had nothing to do with her. Something like...
“I’ve got it!” Lottie suddenly squealed. Hopping from one foot to the other, she excitedly grabbed Cinderella’s hands. “I’m throwing a carnival!”
Cinderella was not one to be particularly worried about other people's sanity, particularly when they were being cheerful, so where anyone else might have become worried when somebody grabbed their hands and started bouncing like that, she simply joined in.
"Oh what a wonderful idea!" she agreed encouragingly "It would be a perfect place to find a prince and such fun as well!" She'd never really had a chance to go to a carnival, though she'd heard of them, and the idea was terribly exciting. She would definitely go along, and perhaps she too would meet her prince there!
It wasn’t that Lottie needed any validation for anything she did, but she very much enjoyed praise so she was quite happy when Cinderella enthusiastically agreed with her idea.
“There will be games and rides and food, and I just know that everyone will come!” she exclaimed. She stopped bouncing though she was still practically jittering, and she didn’t let go of Cinderella’s hands. In fact, she only held them tighter. “I’ll have to put a sheet up for volunteers ta help run everything. I’ll be expectin’ to see your name on that list too.”
Although her tone was still happy and excited, there was a hint of something else that really left little room for arguing.
"Oh of course!" Cinderella agreed happily, and while somebody else might just be saying that, she really whole-heartedly intended to help out as much as Lottie needed her to. Just because Cinderella was aware that her family had taken advantage of her, that they'd treated her like a servant and that it hadn't been a very nice thing to do, she was still the kind of person who would happily do anything that was asked of her, she liked helping people - even if they were asking her to do things that they didn't necessarily need help with.
"I'm sure it's going to be the most wonderful carnival ever!" She beamed, finding Lottie's excitement slightly infectious "I can't wait!"
Cinderella’s excitement only seemed to validate and heighten Lottie’s. Clapping her hands again, she quickly gathered up her stuff and took a few steps toward the door.
“Well in that case I best be gettin’ started on it all! Oh, it’s just gonna be the cat’s meow!” Lottie trilled. Stopping just at the door, she turned back to the other blonde with a mischievous smile. “And I know exactly what booth I’m gonna run... the kissing booth!”
And with that she disappeared out the door. If Cinderella was anything like Giselle, and she really appeared to be, then she would just be appalled at the idea of kissing any random person that stopped by.
Cinderella stared after her with wide eyes, all her excitement drained in the surprise and ever so slight horror at the idea of a 'kisssing booth'. Surely that was just asking for trouble, kissing people willy nilly without any thought for true love. Kisses were powerful things, they shouldn't be given to just anybody... right?
But then, Lottie was clearly very different, and one must always stay true to oneself, especially if you wanted to find your prince. Perhaps the kisses would be different until it was that one kiss of true love.
Deciding that fate wouldn't let it be any other way, Cinderella allowed herself to smile and go back to being excited about the carnival, and once again she began dancing around the ball room with her imaginary partner.
