Smiling she handed the empty can to Pooka and pointed to the label on the front, turning back to the counter and picking up the ham to put in the sandwich. It was nice, having someone else around for a bit, although she wasn’t sure where he was going to sleep, she would have to let him sleep on her bed…in, in her bed for just now but he would need his own one.
She was actually going to do this wasn’t she? She was going to keep him, even if he was a person now…she couldn’t help but take in strays.
“After you’ve had your sandwich why don’t we take a walk over to the Grayle Corp and see if they can help you out with more people stuff, does that sound good?”
It wasn't Pooka's first instinct to read just yet, so even though she pointed out the label, he brought the can up to his nose to sniff. Even to his new human nose it didn't smell like dog food, and when he looked up again he realised she was now using ham, so it didn't take him too long to realise that she'd tricked him.
He dropped the can (not yet really used to the idea of tidying up or putting things in their place) and bounced up and down happily. "You tricked me! Ham! Yey ham!" He beamed at her, finding the whole situation hilarious.
"Yes! That sounds very good!" he agreed to her suggestion, nodding emphatically. More people stuff! Yey!
“Good,” she said, the excitement of the little boy quite catching as she herself burst into a smile.
“And we’ll also need to get you enrolled in the junior academy,” she said glancing down at him, trying to judge his reaction to that, “it’s very important to learn things now that you’re a human being. And to learn things, like reading and writing, you need to go to school…so…I guess we’ll just have to see if they’ll take you in.”
Grayle corp would help. They would set up some kind of fund that would allow her to send him there. That might mean taking on a third job but a little extra cash was always good anyway. Besides, she couldn’t stay home and keep an eye on him all the time, and it’s not like she could take him to work with her. No. School was the best place for him.
Smiling, she handed him the sandwich, “now eat nicely.”
