Tristian smirk grew as she continued her little rant, not worrying or caring at all about all her little remarks and slights to his character. That was just Meredith, she had never been able to pull of scathing, she had the material she just didn’t have the knack to pull it off. For example he could bring her down to nothing with a couple of words never mind a couple of sentences, and despite having a wealth of insecurities, Meredith had never been able to press the right buttons. It was one of the few advantages he had over his younger sibling.
The little mudball was by far their fathers favourite out of the two of them, something which Tristian had always resented. It was so obvious to see, the way he doted on her, the way he would do anything for her and the little mudball knew if she ran to daddy he would always take her side. Not to mention it reminded him that he was merely a child of convenience, an heir to the throne to keep grandpa, the lords and the people happy, Meredith was born out of love. Must be nice. He was almost certain than given the opportunity his father would pass his crown onto the little brat if he thought the people would accept it.
“Oh is little Meredith having a little tantrum,” he said not making a liar out of her and using his most patronising tone, “just because she is a little embarrassed about being caught attempting to buy grown up things?”
He laughed and said, “Perhaps when you start acting like a princess should and start taking note of this ‘rubbish’ you’ll garner a little more respect from me and others. You’ve got the self righteous holier than thou thing down darling, but you need to work on your charm.”
