I still owe no posts. Sad.
On a brighter note, though, the concert I went to on Friday? Freaking amazing! Now I haven’t really seen a lot of concerts, but this was definitely the best one I’ve ever seen. It’s one thing to watch a symphony play on television, but to actually see one live, even a small one, was so impressive. They move so fluidly together, and the sound is just so full I was absolutely floored. We were in the fifth row, right in line with the violin section and man, I kinda really wanna learn to play the violin now. Although Mr. Lonely on the grand piano made me wish I still had easy access to a piano. I could get a keyboard but it’s just not the same. The piano still owns my heart.
Then, of course, there was the man himself. My favourite artist going right now, the multi-multi talented Hawksley Workman. Now I love his albums and I own them all (‘cept the few special ones I gotta order through his website) but his voice? He actually sounds better live than recorded. His voice is absolutely indescribable. The notes he can hit, how he can transition from a low, sexy growl to an amazing falsetto, and just... that man is a musical god, I swear. My words just can’t do him justice.
So yes, absolutely awe inspiring performance that I could blather on about for forever, so for a weekend with more lows than highs it at least started on a beautiful note so my birthday wasn’t a complete write-off.
Now if only they would make a recording of this performance...
